Trying Something New

Subject: Trying Something New Mon Mar 07, 2011 3:51 pm

I walked into the Melee station and checked around the large assortment of weapons. I picked up what at first seemed to be a spear, but I realized it was a halberd, something we used back in the district to pull logs. I found one of my size, and began twisting it around in the practice area, working on puncturing the dummies without getting the halberd stuck.

Fujita just sat there. He was not going to kill anyone, just let them kill each other. This kid looked content killing the air, but how will he feel when it's a young girl he's mangling? If people were smart, they would do the same as him. Nothing.

I swung the halberd, slicing a gash in the stomach of one of the dummies, turned, dived, and threw it, sending it through two more. The trainer applauded and asked if I had used one before, "Not a real one, just fooling around with plastic ones against my friends" I say, he points out I have good aim, and I smile, happy to know I'm doing good. I decide to set down the halberd and go check out another station.

A few yards away from everybody, just hacking at a dummy. The dagger that I had picked up- it had a golden hilt- fit well in my hand. I stab the dummy in the heart area, spilling stuffing out. I smile, satisfied with myself.

Milo and I approached the weapons I had no intent of actually fighting but I knew he wanted to get his hands on something. I could handle a sword or spear so I just sat down and watched him

I walk in and pick up two axes, I realize I noticed axes in the ranged station as well, which meant I could practice both. I decided to go lightly, not giving too much away. I went up and started to use basic attacks that can be done on trees, slicing two dummies in different areas.

Milo looked over the weapons, fingering a few throwing knifes but then putting them back. He needed to practice what he didn't know. "Are you sure you don't want to try any of these?" he asked Brook.

I shook my head, I was adept at using a sword little did anyone know. I wasn't going to show off any skill I had now but maybe during my private session. Maybe. "I like watching you" I said then I noticed the camera crew in the gym. "Oh great they were playing us on camera as well."

OOC: Dee, this is melee(Hand to hand), theres no bows.

I grin, "If theres anything new here, just try it out" I say to Brook, "Better to learn how to use the weapons, in case you end up having them in the arena"

-Oh whoops. Didn't see that.

Will tried a longer, lighter sword next, calling an attendant over to practice with him. He didn't excel at sword fighting, though he was good at fist fighting. It just took too much planning, one wrong move and you're dead.

I asked permission from one of the capitol attendants to practice with Milo. He eventually agreed but told me heavily that if we tried to hurt each other the instigator would be killed on the spot. So with that in mind I picked up a lighter sword and approached him. "I got permission to practice with you." I said spinning the sword in my hand. "Ready?"

I sat on a bench near where Brook and Milo were, absently chucking the small axes into the dummy at my feet, hitting different spots without even trying, but hitting where I wanted to, it would be smart to see their skills with some things before going for an all out alliance.

"Okay," Milo agreed with a light smile. He adjusted the handle in his hand and assumed a defensive position. When their swords met they made a sharp clang.

Just then as they began fighting a whistle rang "Lunchtime!" the capitol attendent called "Please leave all stations and go to lunch!"

I easily caught his blade on my sword and I heard the attendent. I sighed "Alright come on lets go eat" I said. "Hopefully I won't get sick.. again."

Milo returned his sword and followed the other tributes to the dining hall. "Just eat light," he advised her.

I picked up the sword and took my ready stance ready to do some practicing with Milo.

I walked up, picking up two small axes and whipping them, seemingly randomly, but they both found deep marks in the heads of different dummies, "So I can use axes, I can climb stuff, I can run fast and I can sneak." I pause for breath, "What about you" I say, challenging her to reveal her skills.

Milo re-gripped his sword, doing a few test swings before meeting Brook's blade with a quick slash.

I grin, thinking about how much of an added challenge it would be if this was a three way fight. "Bet you get more out of a swordfight when theres three people in the free for all" I say loudly.

"Sorry." I said "Attendent said only with Milo, and no injuring each other." I quickly blocked his blade stepping inside his guard and trying to stab him.

Milo blocked, but he stepped back and stumbled on the mat slightly. He was being careful, he didn't want to hurt Brook.

I laughed "Milo I've played with swords before, C'mon your holding back." I advanced on him aggressively slashing for his legs. "You're probably right" I told Jake "But for right now I need this one to get into training!"

I shrugged, "Fine with me, but try not to cut his legs, because neither of us can carry him if you put him on crutches"
