Grace had expected a forest, maybe a jungle or even a desert or frozen iceland.

What she hadn't expected was something more familiar. Now that she had slowed down Grace had found herself in a hallway... stopping she waited to see if she could hear anything heading her way but started to slowly walk forward keeping her eye out for anything that might be useful or a sign of a trap.. Grace wished now that she had spent more time gathering supplies at the Cornocopia because the one thing the dry walls and flickering light all but screamed was that finding water and food was going to be tough...

But at least she felt like this was a world she could deal with. Grace tucked her water bottle into her clothes and then proceeded to climb the wall to dislodge one of the torches lighting up the hall with her knife. She didn't trust anything in the arena, the light made it hard to see but she hadn't gotten the torch for that.. Grace gently threw it before her to dislodge any traps or show anything she might have missed in the dark. She didn't rush but tried to keep a calm head to listen for anything out of the ordinary.

'Right gamemakers.. it's your turn' she thought as she found herself with a choice to go up or down. Grace thought for a moment, she needed water and equipment.. up she might find the real arena with light and some kind of outside but Grace also knew that water often ran deep and that usually there would be pipes and pools below. Grace didn't feel all that bad so far, she was thirsty of course and hungry but that wasn't so different to how she had spent most of her life. Picking up her torch she went down into the dark unknown....

A creaking noise could be heard, but that was all that sounded in the area so far.

Dead End, Grace was sure of it as she stood still trying to make out more of the room around her. It was quiet but she could hear something creaking..was it a door or a rope maybe? Maybe it was the sound of a monster slowly waking up?

Grace shook her head, 'Stay calm and stay focused'. She closed her eyes a moment to try and pick up a sense of her surroundings before heading towards the noise. Was it a mistake? Grace guessed she would find out but she knew well enough that the noise had to be from something, maybe a well cover or a hatch to a secret area.. maybe a weapon? Even if it was just some rope Grace would find a good use for it. But for now she had to figure out where she was and what was making that noise.

Take nothing for granted.

Grace had been told that by her father in law the day she had left her son and her home. He was right that nothing was in the arena by chance, so she was extra cautious as she made her way towards the sound watching for false stones or traps, the knife in her hand and torch in the other. She wished she had managed to find a staff or a some wood to make a pole out of, but at least she had made it out with the bottle.. of course it wasn't going to be much use without water. Whoever found water would own the Arena, Grace just had to hope she was going the right way.

The creaking sound was now apparent it was behind her adn a long bang came down and a column had fallen blocking the entrance, there was no turning back, only forward.

Grace had followed the sound but stopped, where her senses deceiving her? The sound was now behind her.. Grace turned in horror as there was a loud bang.. a cave in! Grace had only just had time to duck and cover on the floor when the dim light from the doorway was blocked out.

She was trapped.

Swearing Grace brushed herself off, the torch was casing strong shadows, at least it was still good. Coughing from the dust she knew there was no going back now.. they had blocked her in and maybe this would be the end of her. Grace didn't know but she wasn't going to stop.. not till she had found water. She wiped her mouth and face with a sleeve then grabbed her torch and knife, no mistakes this time.. she knew the Gamemakers hated her and probably would have been quite happy to bring the entire room down on her head. Grace needed to get out of here... but she had already had one narrow escape.. the light was dim but she tried to pick a path away from the worst of the damage of age. Vaguely she wondered what this place had been before the Gamemakers had turned it into a arena.

Loud booms echoed down as something came closer and closer. Soon a giant stone statue of a god swung his sword down at her.

(Mutt has 70 hp, and only hits once. You are allowed to block mutt attacks (: )

Grace tried to stay calm, she could hear something.. it started out quiet but soon the booms where getting louder and louder..

Panic gripped her, she was trapped with only a throwing knife against something big.. something very big.. she heard it echoing as she moved forward looking for anything she could use.. a stone, a rock.. a stick..

Fire? Grace smelt it before she saw it, stinking hot breath as she held her torch up.. the glow of eyes as what looked at first like a stone statue moved.. Grace didn't wait.. there was no way to block it but the Mutt was slow.. she might have a chance here. It came from above, she rushed it swinging the torch at the Mutts face.. "please, work.. please, work........" she whispered in a small prayer. Terrified she had forgotten about the cameras, the arena and even the gamemakers.. she thought that she could outwit them by avoiding the others.. yet here she was facing what could be her own death right now.

Grace had to fight, she had no other choice.

Was it her screaming or the mutt? Grace didn't know as she missed the Mutt's face and ended up scorching the creatures leg with flames. There was no time to be proud as she felt pain as the sword cut at her.. blood dripping down her arm from where the sword had nicked her, she needed to get low and stay low.. this time when the sword came again she used the knife in her hand to stab at the claw holding it.. staying further back to keep the creature away she waved the torch out at the monster to try and scare it away from coming at her again.

It was futile though, Grace knew it would never stop until one of them was dead.

It was hopeless, Grace knew it as she missed and the monster got her again. The smell of blood seemed to drive the creature crazy at it hit down at her then then started to try and crush her into the ground. Grace went down kicking and screaming as she tried to kick it away while stabbing at whatever she could with the knife..

She wasn't winning, that was clear from the pain. Grace didn't want to die here, not in the dark of some ancient crypt. She had to focus on fighting and surviving this.... but she knew each moment it was taking away the valuable energy she had tried so hard to conserve.

A screech brought her out of her panic.. she missed but managed to kick the Mutt away. Getting back on her feet she could feel the pain of where the creature had cut her, Grace knew she would not last long bleeding as she was. She had to finish this or get away.

Looking around she tried to remember if the Mutt had dropped it's sword.. if so it should be around here somewhere... Grace wished more then anything to have something more substantial, yet she knew it could have been worse.. she could have not run for the cornucopia and found herself against the monster without anything to use at all.

Trying to shield herself with the torch she sliced at the Mutt with her knife..

The mutt shrunk a bit to the height of 6 feet tall and he swung his sword at the girl again.

Grace felt that everything she did just slid off the creature, she was bleeding heavily and panting as it came from her. Screaming as the Mutt got her she felt dizzy, the fight felt like it was lasting days and still the creature kept coming for her.

All she could hope was to finish it before she bled out.

All she could do was desperately try and block the creatures oncoming attacks with whatever she could. Knife, Fire it didn't matter as she drove them at the Mutt screaming. One of them was going to die here, she just hoped it wasn't going to be her.

The mutt halted attacking this round and then he let go of a package. and it floated down to Grace. Inside was a med kit and a pack of beef jerky. Use it wisely!

Catching the sword against her knife Grace slipped and found herself looking up at the monster. This was it, surely it would get her and yet the thing stopped and from nowhere she saw something falling down at her.. Grace had no idea what it was but it was obvious that whatever it was she was supposed to have.

Ungraciously she shoved it down her top to join the bottle and turned her attention back to the mutt.

"I guess you want me to say thank you is that it?"

Grace asked the monster in confusion. Panting Grace wiped blood off her sleeve, she had forgotten about the Capitol and all the people watching at home.. the package however reminded her that everything she was doing right now was being televised though out all of Param. People would be betting on if she lived or died right now. Furious she turned her anger towards the Mutt swinging fire and blade towards it in a final desperate bid to see it die.
