Triumphant Return

Mars looked back over his should to see if the beast had followed him. He saw Glyph trailing behind him, his sword in hand. Mars immediately began to look for some place where they would be safe. He saw the Cornucopia, and wondered if maybe there was anything left. He made his way back towards where things started, and indicated for Glyph to follow.

Glyph sheathed his sword and took off after Mars. They were headed back to the Cornucopia which was great, Glyph could see that there was a grotto but he'd bet his life there was a trap somewhere in there. Smiling he followed Mars as fast as he could, not looking over his shoulder to see what was going on. He knew he had to get his rankings up... Or so he guessed since he hadn't been sponsored yet. He bet all of the careers had been sponsored. So why not Mars? Maybe sponsoring wasn't open. Glyph tripped again, his chest smashing into the hot sand which had seriously heated up since he had last touched it.

Mars was glad for the reprieve, a break was more than welcomed. The creature had not followed them onto the beach. Mars looked around, but saw that everything, even the weapons rack and the food crates had disappeared. Whether by the capitol, the other tributes, or by natural causes he could only guess. It was then that Mars noticed the dryness of his throat, he reached into his bag and pulled out an apple and began to eat it. The juice was very refreshing, and the flesh tasted better than he imagined. He took a few more bites, and finished the whole thing, including the core.

Glyph looked over at Mars with envy plain on his face. The apple that he had pulled out was amazing looking. He breathed and watched as the red skin gave way to almost perfect white nutrients below. Man How glyph would kill for a bottle of water, He throat was killing him. He decided that he shouldn't ask Mars for an apple, he didn't want to anger him in the slightest. Maybe He could kill him for the apple, but he'd never be able to do it himself. Sighing and seeing nothing he could do but sit in the hot sun, he looked around for even the smallest trace of fresh water. Instead all he got was a bunch of salt water stuff.

Mars looked at the water that was from the ocean. He knew it would be salty, but if he could somehow remove the salt they would have some water to drink. He looked around for something to burn, if he could make a fire, he might be able to boil the salt out. "Glyph, I need something to make a fire with. If I can get that, we might be able to boil the salt out of the sea water." He stated. He began looking around for anything that would be good for making a fire, and he needed a container to hold the water.

Glyph couldn't even see a thing to hold water in let alone something to burn. He knew he would have to go back into the woods, but then he remembered the large beast inside. instantly he figured out it wasn't here."We need to go, somewhere that's... not here." Glyph said looking around. The monster stopped on the beach line for a reason but Glyph had no idea what. Eyeing the apples that Mars had as his stomach rumbled again, Glyph thought about killing him for the millionth time that day. He could easily do it, but where would he find someone else to team up with. He was a weaponless Career, which would definitely get him something if Glyph killed him. Not to mention an Armed tribute is better than a not armed, especially one who had no idea how to fight unarmed.

Mars's search came up empty for both a container and for fire wood. Staying on the beach was useless, they would have to go back to the forest. The only issue with that was the creature that had chased them was maybe still there. The thing hadnt followed them onto the beach, so it was a safe place, but why? Mars didnt know, all he knew was if they stayed at the beach they would die of exposure and dehydration and starvation, but if they went back to the forest they might die from the creature. Mars knew he would rather face the creature and fight, then stay at the beach and do nothing. "We need to go back to the woods, there might be something else useful on the other side." He stated.

"Wait. Can I see an apple real quick? maybe we can lure the deer out again, and have some meat. we may even be able use the meats juice to make a quick fire, and the body as a place to light it. However, I don't know if the GM's are gonna let us get of that easy" said glyph thinking back to some small stuff he picked up over his life. The Meat juice was from a kitchen fire when he was cooking with his grandmother, and he remembered the deer from the woods. Another good idea for a fire was human feces. "We could always poop, and burn that... It may stink but it could work. and for a drink we could carve out an apple so its like a cup, or maybe one of these shells" glyph spoke as he reached for the nearest shell.

Mars shook his head, "No, im not going to waste an apple on the slight chance that we might get a deer. Even if we did get one, the chance that everyone would work is not very likely." He replied. Mars saw someone in the water, swimming towards the beach. He recognized it as Deluna, the tribute from district 4. Mars didnt know whether or not he could trust the girl, but she seemed to know Glyph. Mars looked at the girl, "Do you have any weapons or other items on you?" He asked. A breeze began to blow, and this only made Mars feel thirsty. "We need to get back to the forest, there might be something in there we can use." He stated.

Glyph frowned as Mars ignored his request for an apple. That was OK he would just find another way to get food. "Let's go to the mountain? Or sprint to the city?" Glyph pushed a hand over his short cut of hair. Snapping his elbow back and caught it in his hand, whirling on the spot he saw it was Deluna. Glyph gave a sly smile, and turned on Mars striking fast. He brought the blade across his chest trying to catch him by surprise. "you should've given me an apple man... See me and Deluna trained together" Glyphs face turned dark, and his stance became menacing. "and we came to an understanding that, if we met eachother we would kill our allies and team up... So it kind of sucks that are are unarmed and all but... It's time we part..." glyph spoke nonchalantly like this was casual talk of everyday life.

Their thirst became almost a little too much to bear as the world around all three of the tributes began to get a little fuzzy. The heat on the beach did not help at all either.

Mars was surprised when Glyph attacked him, apparently this had been the plan all along. The other girl, Deluna, who also happened to be from a career district and in an alliance with Glyph attacked him as well. He knew he would be able to block both attacks, not to mention the fact that he was weaponless. Mars had to think quickly about which attack he needed to avoid most, and he judged that Deluna's attack would do more damage as it was heading towards his chest. He thrust out his hand, in a desperate attempt to deflect her attack. Mars felt the sting of Glyph's attack, his legs buckled and he hit the ground. He was quick to get up though. He turned to Glyph and with as much strength as he could muster swung his fist towards his face. "You traitor." He growled menacingly.
Mars knew he needed to get away from the beach as fast as he could. He attempted to make his run but the heat from the beach and his thirst hit him, and he stumbled to the ground. Thoughts ran through Mar's head, like why was there no water, why were his allies attacking him, how come he had yet to be sponsored, was he going to die now at there hands. Mars pushed the thoughts out at got back to his feet.

His throat really burning now, He sent another attack towards Mars. Looking over at Deluna he spoke hoarsely "We need to get to the Mountain, and get something to drink. If there is anything there, that is ". He Laughed as Mars fell but he knew he wasn't far from doing so himself. He needed to kill him to get the apples, but how far was he willing to go?

As the tributes fought tremors can be felt as a new giant bursts onto the sand, obviously not sharing the same fear that the other one had of the sandy expanse. This titan looked familiar though, especially to Deluna as the face of Jaden is now running towards the two. Mars, while being hit manages to escape using the distraction creates by the new monstrosity.
