PostSubject: Night at the Hemming Household. (Trist and I)   Sat Nov 28, 2015 3:27 pm

It had been a long day, and Ava had gone to bed. Her dreams weren't bad at first. Just the usual, about her flying around the district. She could see the houses and buildings from the rooftops and she could see into the horizon and noticed the tops of other districts. Her young mind was very active and imaginative. Suddenly she felt a falling sensation and she fell into what seemed like a battle. People who seemed to be from the poorer districts fighting against the peacekeepers the capitol sent after them. Ava watched people die around her and her heart was pounding as she ran through the crowd looking for her father. She'd shout out for her father trying to find him.

Finally when she did she was about to run to him and tell him to come home, but that was when he was shot and fell to the ground. Before she knew it she woke up startled. She was uneasy and her heart was still pounding. She was unable to fall back asleep so she got out of bed and walked to Cadman's room. She lightly knocked on the door and opened it a bit. "Cadman?" She asked softly.

Cadman was having a long day to start with, the sleep that was deprived last night had caused him to be filled with the strain of his eyes wanting to close and sleep, but he just couldn't because the thought of sleep was so foreign to him as every night he'd close his eyes to never drift off into a calming sleep. However he was used to it by now, despite it annoying him having not being able to sleep. His footsteps would be in a constant rotation, as he paced his room trying to tire himself to the point in which he'd be tired enough to fall asleep from how much he was walking around the room. That didn't work either.

A sigh escaped his lips while he had decided to sit back down on the bed, finding himself drifting off into thought which hadn't resulted in sleep, but it was better than trying to sleep. He would be sitting in his bedroom, wondering about the new concept that had been brought into Panem. The Games. What were they like? Killing twenty-three others for victory when we have no clue what the victory was for? A simple little- well, not so little, large actually, but a simple home in a village where you're going to be alone until one more person who claims the title of 'murderer' comes home? A sigh escaped his lips while placing a hand on his forehead, his mind too tired to think.

A knock appeared on his door and it opened slightly, a small yet young voice had appeared from it softly.
"Cadman?" The voice had said, almost unsure. Cadman would sit up a bit at the sound of the voice, registering inside his head. Ava. "Yes, Ava?" A slight pause. "You can come in."

She heard his voice and right away she felt some sort of comfort. She opened the door enough for her to get through. She saw him in his bed, and she knew he didn't sleep a lot but she never knew why. Walking into the room more she stood near his bed and she looked to him and hugged her body. "I had a nightmare again." She said quietly to him. This was a normal thing as of recently, and she'd almost always come and hangout with him if he was home.

Cadman would smile softly at her as she entered his room, nodding as she told him what happened. He wasn't completely surprised by this as the female had come to his room quite often whenever she needed one of her nightmares resolved. He felt weak, almost useless whenever she came up to him when she was scared. "I had a nightmare again." The words had escaped her mouth and Cadman would nod, opening his arms in a gesture to let her know she can come over to him. "Come on, you're okay." He said in a calm voice while looking at her. The older teenager knew that he was pretty much the only thing she had to protect her and keep her calm, he was happy about that.

Ava saw him open his arms and she crawled into bed with him and into his arms. The girl felt safe in her brothers arms and it calmed her down. "What's keeping you up? Did you have a nightmare too?" She asked, even though she was certain he didn't sleep yet but she figured she at least had to ask him. It had been hard recently on their family with the loss of their father. They never saw their mother anymore, she had just worked all the time and when she didn't work she would make supper and go to bed. Their mother had no more time for them and it saddened Ava but she understood.

Cadman would give her a quick hug, listening to her while running a hand through her hair. "What's keeping you up? Did you have a nightmare too?" She asked, a small smile appearing on his face. "Yeah, I did too." He would nod, looking down at her. The death had taken a hit on Ava and his mother, and that seemed to be pretty much it. It made him sad to see his sister sad, she had a bright mind and he knew this. Their mother never showed up to talk to them or ask how they've been since she's been so busy providing for the family, that's pretty cool in his book. "Do you want to tell me about your nightmare?"

Ava heard he had a nightmare but she was almost certain that he hadn't had one. Although she'd just put trust in what he said anyways. Cadman asked if she wanted to talk about her nightmare and she shook her head no. She knew Cadman didn't really fancy their father too much so she knew he could never truly understand her loss and her fears. "Do you want to talk about yours?" Ava asked and she waiting for a response. Looking at the walls in his room. They were like every other room in the house. They were poor they didn't have much for luxury. That would be the Capitol and district one.

Their house was a little beaten down and had no shape to it. From the outside it was just a stone block. There was a downstairs and upstairs and that was it. Five small bedrooms upstairs and down had the worn kitchen, eating area, and living room. As well as the bath where they could clean themselves but they didn't have too much.

Cadman wasn't expecting her to believe him right away, knowing her quite well but he decided it was worth a try. He would smile softly as she asked about his own nightmare. He would shake his head 'no as a response, though gave her a slight tight squeeze before looking around his room as she did too. The teenager was slightly expecting her to edge him on about the nightmare, but he sure hoped she would give up eventually. What would he use as the nightmare? It definitely would've been a hard idea to create at the spot.

She noticed that he had shook his head no to talking about his dream and she sighed softly. Ava had been a bit worried recently with the recent announcement of a Hunger Games and she hadn't been able to speak to anyone about it yet. What was supposed to happen? What if she was picked? What if her sister or brothers were? It troubled the adolescent girl as she thought about it more and more. "What will happen if you get picked to go into the hunger games?" Ava asked softly. She couldn't lose more people, it'd devastate her and she wouldn't know what to do.

The next question had definitely surprised the male from District Eight, though it was almost as if he was slightly expecting it. The question was most likely going to show up sooner or later, so he thought it was better now. "What will happen if you get picked to go into the Hunger Games?" She had asked, almost as innocent as a doe. Cadman had thought about this a bit, what would happen? He didn't want to make her scared for him to be reaped and die, because she already had one person she loved die. The female doesn't need any more people. "I... don't know, Ava." This was something he did know.

He didn't know.

Ava sat there in silence unsure of what to say next. She figured out of everyone in the house Cadman would have made some sort of conclusion. Perhaps he still could, there was still time, but she was still just unsure. "What do you think they games will be like?" She asked softly. It was loosely explained, but not in detail. Ava just didn't know what to do and it was frustrating her.
