Disappearing... for now, or for good?

Ahh... glorious escape. Marcelina would have paused to breathe the free air, but she was still in a death tournament arena, and was still even inside the tower complex, so she was far from free. still... it was good to live a little bit longer.

once back in the area between the towers, she looked around her. there was the east tower which she had just narrowly escaped from, the west tower, which she'd run right into if she ran forward, the south tower, which didn't really catch her eyes, or the north tower, which seemed to be covered in fog.
the fog was probably some sort of poison or hallucinogen, but then again, that might be a cool way to die... well, she'd rather anything but the careers get her. they'd enjoy killing her too much.

she disappeared into the fog of the tower, slipping inside and trying to get a look around at what, if anything, was in the area.

Marcelina quickly realized that she wouldn't find anything too easily in this fog. but, it also didn't seem to be poison-fog, or hallucinogenic fog, which was a plus.

she started groping her way through the mists to see if she came across anything. the comforting news to her was, that at least if she couldn't find herself in this mess, that no one else would be able to easily find her...
this time, she also put effort into remaining quiet. she didn't want to give her position away so early.

Normally Marcelina would have inspected a random water bottle lying around, but she was quite thirsty, especially after all that just happened.
without much of a second though, she opened the bottle and emptied about half of its contents into her mouth, revelling as the glorious liquid rehydrated her throat and her insides.

for a moment afterwards, she paused, to see if there was anything in the water. provided that she didn't go into a seizure, go blind, or drop dead on the spot, she would resume groping her way through the fog to see what she could find.

given that she didn't suddenly die, Marcelina kept hold of the water bottle, saving the rest for later.

for now, it was a matter of quietly tiptoeing around the place, looking for anything; stairs, walls, windows, doors... and how much visibility she had. she made almost no sound, but still wanted to figure out the lay of this place.

It hardly surprised Marcelina that they were in the same area as she was, already. but... she wasn't ready to confront them, especially when all she knew about their whereabouts was their general direction.
instead, she quietly continued to tiptoe around, stepping away from where she knew they were, to try and find either a stairway, an exit, or some sort of way out of this room without them knowing that she was there. she was mostly looking to hide, not to run.

well crap. this was the end. a knife and a couple of bloodthirsty careers later, and Marcelina's solitude was decimated. as she heard the knife flying towards her, she swung to block it. once she became cornered, it was time for one last little bit of fun.

that's right. she burst into song.
"Now you lay me down to sleep...
Pray the Lord my soul to keep...
If I die before I wake...
Pray the Lord my Soul to take..."

then the fight began.

"HUSH LITTLE BABEH, DON'T SAY A WORRRRD!" she belted, "AND NEVURR MIND THAT NOISE YA HURRRDD..."
she swung her axe at the nearest tribute, which happened to be crazy-girl.
"IT'S JUST THE BEASTS UNDURR Y'ER BEDDDDDD... IN Y'ER CLOSET; IN Y'ER HEAAAADDD!!"

"EEEEXIT LIIIGHT!" she sang, as she made one final attempt to run deeper into the fog... just for the sake of it....
"ENNNNTER NIIIIGHT!" perhaps if she ran, she'd be finished off swiftly and effectively by a knife from the District 2 girl.

"GRAAAAAIN OF SAAAND!
"OFF TO NEVER-NEVER LAND!"
she had probably just lost most of her mind realizing that she was literally seconds, maybe minutes, away from death. but... it seemed her song gave rest to her soul before she would soon surely die.

Welp... this was it. Marcelina saw the blow approaching, and decided that at this point, there was nothing else she could do. if she tried to block his hit, one of the others would simply strike at another angle, and so far their aim had been about as good as hers--probably slightly better.

"Too late, sugardoodle..." she leered at Heather as the mortal wound was received from Rafe. "My time in this world has come to an end... these razzling wounds, never a need to mend... TAKE ME DOWN..."
there was a moment pause.
"...to the paradise city where the grass is green and the girls are pretty."

she staggered, knowing that these were her final breaths. blood leaked out of the corners of her mouth.

"OH WON'TCHA PLEEEEASE TAKE ME HOOOOOOOME!"
and then it seemed this was her last dying breath, and she fell in a crumpled heap.

Thus the greatest Tribute the Hunger Games had ever, or would ever, see, had fallen.
