Round 1: Alek Strep vs Ada Winterson

Ada considered this district tournament to be something like a healthy competition, and completely different from the Games. She knew that was wrong, but she wanted the chance  to prove herself. She knew she could beat anyone she came up against, and now the girl could have the chance to prove that.

Once she walked in with her shield and daggers, she was shocked to see who she would be fighting. It was that guy. Ada hadn't asked his name, it was really necessary, but now she felt flustered. He had only been nice to her, and now she would have to fight him? Ther wasn't time for questions, as the girl attempted to block his coming attack. "Hey!" she yelped with a frown. The phrase 'I wasn't ready,' would've fit, but Ada was too full of herself to say that.

"That's not how you charm a girl," she added with a raised eyebrow, before she slashed her blade across his general direction, hoping for a hit.

Ada furrowed her brow as the boy laughed at her. How dare he laugh, just like he pushed her in the snow a few days before. "You can have it back," she retorted with a frown. Using her shield, the girl tried to block his attack again.

She sidestepped and tried to jab his side with her dagger, smiling as she did so. Ada wasn't normally one for violence, but he was getting on her nerves. "I don't normally despise someone whose name I don't even know," she added with a frown.

Ada smiled as he missed her, backing up a little to stand more upright. "Well, Alex, I think you need to work on your aim," she said a matter of factly. His fencing skills weren't something she cared for, and she would plan on rubbing that in sometime.

Taking two steps forward, the girl took a stab at Alek's torso area, hoping for a hit on him. It would be nice to make him block eventually. She wanted to prove to him that she was a decent fighter, and not just another girl from district three.

Ada smirked as he rolled his eyes, feeling like she had successfully annoyed him for the time being. Really, that's all she had wanted to achieve. Annoyed people weren't focusing on attacks. She brushed her hair out of her face before she continued to smile. "Out of all the things, you chose a stick?" she questioned with a laugh.

Sidestepping, the girl slashed her dagger across the area of his midsection. Ada enjoyed this bickering, it gave her something to do while trying to win.

Ada groaned as he blocked her attack, and that would've been a good one too! Now she would have to do better, if she wanted to win. She wanted to win, and make her family proud. Her sister wasn't in any fighting competition, which meant it would be easier for her to sneak back up into the favorite daughter spot.

This time it was her chance to roll her eyes, and Ada took it. "Oh, pu-lease, honey, you haven't touched me," she said with a confident smirk. The guy might be annoying, but at least they could keep up a conversation

Ada watched herself miss once more, and tried to hide the disappointment from her face. This wasn't the time to be missing, she had to win, right? Then again, this conversation was getting somewhat interesting. Maybe she could distract him? Yeah, that could take awhile.

"It's not nice to hit girls," she retorted as he tried to backhand her, as she tried to block. After that, Ada sliced her blade across his back, hoping for some sort of contact. She may not be trained, but attacking people wasn't really a science.

Ada could tell he was getting frustrated, and she was too. District Three was better than a group of teenagers that couldn't land a hit on each other. At least, she thought they had to be a little better than that. After all, they did have a victor. Then again, Spencer did use his head more than anything else."We're the only ones that signed up," Ada retorted with a raised eyebrow.

She avoided his missed attack, and stabbed downwards, by his shoulder. Ada almost gasped at what he said, but just gave him a blank look instead. "I - er, what?" the girl muttered, taking a few steps back from him.

Ada was left speechless, what was this boy getting at? She couldn't tell if he actually meant it, due to the half-smirk positioned on his lips. Not that she was paying attention to his appearance, of course. His description of her eyes got her a little unnerved, but she tried to shake that off as she waited for him to make a move. Her eyes made her different, which was something that she hated about herself, but she wasn't going to tell Alex that. He didn't need to know.

"Are you trying to distract me?" she asked warily, her eyebrows raised. All the compliments seemed out of place in an arena for fighting. They weren't supposed to be getting along like this. "Because if you are, it won't work!" Ada added, jabbing at him with her dagger.
