"Welcome, welcome!" The District Seven escort chirped as the citizens gathered. She cast her bleached smile over the dull crowd, waiting for them to settle before continuing on. "Today, one lucky man and one lucky woman shall have the honor of participating in the 36th Hunger Games!" she paused for a cheer, "Now then, Ladies first!" The escort's voice cut off as she broke from the microphone. Her hand dipped into the bowl of names and shuffled the papers. Finally, she withdrew a name and took breath to announce. Who could it be?

Tristan woke up and yawned. He was bored, there was really nothing to say about today. It was your average day in District 7. Besides everyone was freaking out about the reapings, but besides that it's pretty simple. He showered, ate, and than head out in his jeans and shirt. When he started to get nervous that was too late because he was already there, standing with the other boys in district 7.

She dug her hand into the bowl and pulled out the female tribute's name, "Aspen Parch!" She called out and then she dug into the male's bowl. "Norman Rowe!"

NORMAN ROWE -- District Seven
Norman had shown up for the Reapings once again. For six years thus far, he has stood here again and again just to watch complete strangers become the new District Seven tributes. This year was none the different. The escort, the stage, the bowls, and row upon row of District Seven teenagers waiting to see if they survived another year. Norman felt different this year. If he made it without being reaped this year, he'd never have to worry about it again. He'd turn nineteen before the next Games and be ineligible. He allowed himself a grin of relief.
Relaxing his tense shoulders, he watched the escort begin her announcement. Turning his neck in a circle to pop it, he listened to the females name. Tilting his head to the side, he recognized the last name. "Parch... Parch... Oh, yea, that's right. They hired me once to haul logs for a fence job. Shame," he thought to himself. He watched her approach the stage and nodded. He was right, he did recognize her. She was defiantly one of the better looking girls in the district, but he'd never thought anymore of her. Her family traded work with him on occasion.
He suddenly felt older, as if he had gained 20 or so years in a few seconds. What happened now would determine how is future went. Fighting to die or working to die. The only things that hung in the balance now. He heard his name called by the escort and nodded, that's going to be the hand he was dealt and he now had to play it. Norman lumbered to the aisle between the the potential tributes, and lumbered from there to the stage. Climbing the stairs, he stood on the opposite side of the escort as Aspen and looked out among the crowd. This was probably the last he was going to see of them, so he flashed a smile to the crowd. "Let the Games begin," he thought to himself.

Errik was sitting in one of the chairs on the stage. He looked out over the crowd, he couldnt see anyone he recognized, but he knew they were out there. The Escort stood up and began her reaping speech. The names were then called, they sounded familiar to Errik.

Aspen had been standing there, she had to wear a stupid dress, because she was going to be on tv you know? The lace on the pastel blue dress was itchy and she wanted to get out of the dress real bad, and the shoes, were something not to be mentioned, they were like half a size too small and pinching her feet. Great she thought and knew as soon as this whole thing was over she'd be tearing this dress off and her shoes. She didn't even care who saw it, but she wouldn't make a scene for her parents at the moment, no need to embarrass them. Aspen sighed as she listened to the escort and rolled her eyes. Soon she heard her name, and she walked up to the front. It had no significant impact on her at the moment, it didn't quite sink it. It was like in school when they called her name and she just said "here" and it was all done with.
She waited to hear who had to be the male tribute, and soon heard, the name. Norman? She knew that name but couldn't place the face at the moment until he came on stage and he was real tall. She stood on the other side and over looked the crowd and she knew there was a huge height difference. Aspen knew Norman from awhile back when her family hired him for awhile to help move logs. Norman was an interesting a guy but he could also crush her easily, so she hoped they'd end up being allies at the very least. "So I guess I'm Jack and you're the giant." She said only loud enough for Norman to hear.
