What are bunkers doing here?

Norman sprinted from the Cornucopia, tearing off in an South-East direction. Aspen was back to piggy-backing and Norman wielded a metal rod. After his practice in the Training Gym, Norman felt his footing was more stable on the uneven terrain. He cleared a batch of trees and came across a batch of bunkers. Slowing down, Norman came across the front of one of the bunkers. Placing his hands on the wall, he dropped to one knee to let Aspen down. "Bunkers? This could be fun. You gotta plan before we run headlong in?" Norman turned to ask Aspen.

Norman looked disappointed as Aspen pulled out only a photo of an apple. "Really? What is this supposed to be? Is this our fucking food?" Norman questioned. Growling, Norman nodded to Aspen's request. Grabbing both of the mesh bags Norman set them at his feet. Kneeling, he untied the top of his own mesh bag. Before opening his all the way, he pulled open Aspen's. Dropping the top to both, he peered into the bags. He was as curious as Aspen was on this. Waiting, he reached over and grabbed the photo of the apple from Aspen. He began to put it into his mouth, "Whelp, hope it tastes good."

Norman as Aspen took his dinner away. "Hey now, I need something to eat," he sad sadly. Turning back to the eggs, Norman noticed that they were white with green spots. Tilting his head, he reached over to grab Aspen's bag. Pulling it closed tightly, Norman handed it to her. "White eggs, pretty big too," he told her. Sighing, he pulled his bag tight again and stood straight with it in his hand. Glancing around, he took inventory aloud. "Two large eggs. Some rope. An empty back pack with a picture of an apple... that I can't eat, might I add," he said, glaring at Aspen with the last part, "And a canteen." Norman turned to examine the area, not much in the way of anything. There are trees behind them and bunkers in front of them. Norman turned back to Aspen, giving her a questioning look as to what to do next.

Norman heard a cry from the eggs, followed by the cracking of the eggs. Pulling open his bag, he glanced down at the creature in the bag: a small dinosaur with spikes running down its back. Tilting his head, Norman reached into his bag and picked up the little dinosaur. "Well, ain't that something. Looks like they weren't meant for food anyway," Norman said sadly. Glancing to Aspen as she said she was ready to go, Norman nodded. "Whelp, we better get going then," he said, petting Deno.

Norman placed Deno back in the mesh bag, freeing his hand for combat. Placing a hand on Aspen's shoulder, Norman pulled her back and stepped in first. Holding his metal spike up, Norman glanced around precariously. Gingerly stepping into the room, Norman continued looking around. Waving Aspen in after him, Norman glanced at the four doors that stood ahead of them. Standing straight once more, Norman whispered, "Four or five paths, depending on where you wanna go. Norman wielded his spike and twirled it a bit, glancing at Aspen. "Speaking of which, where should we go?"

Norman jumped slightly as the door slammed shut and they were plunged into darkness. Normally he wouldn't have been scared by the simple sound, but the Games had him tense. When the lights returned, Norman noticed all four doors had opened. Shaking his head, Norman turned to find Aspen in the dim lighting. Feeling a slight relief in finding her, Norman glanced around the room. Aside from being trapped from the back, the room seemingly remained the same. Norman readied his metal stake, "Whatever did that obviously doesn't want us leaving." Norman glanced at Aspen's feet and read the message, "Uh, Aspen?" Norman asked, training his stake on the words.

Norman nodded at Aspen's words. Curiously, he asked, "What exactly did you do that would've pissed them off?" The Gamemakers weren't going to wait for the answer as the lights grew brighter, Norman noticed the six undead with knifes. "Oh shit," he said aloud. Two stood in front of him, and two in front of Aspen. Only taking the two in front of him to note, Norman recognized the contorted faces as two tributes from the past Games. Gripping his stake better, Norman readied himself. The two in front of him came in for an attack, wielding their knives. Throwing his stake up, he attempted to deflect one of the attacks, the one from the female shape. Jabbing towards the female zombie, Norman drove his stake into her direction. "We need to end this quick, or there won't be much of either of us to survive," he thought to himself.

Norman felt two knives sting into his arm. He had noted that Aspen had left herself open for attack trying to defend him, but both of them had failed. "Why the hell did you do that?" he asked her, watching the female zombie he'd stabbed collapse. However, the moment of reprieve was just that, a moment. Two more zombies stumbled from the rooms and moved to attack. The female that was now dead was replaced by another female, one that Norman had no recognition of. Norman watched helplessly as the two zombies tried attacking him, unsuccesfully. He pulled his arm back and struck the male zombie, the one that had been first to come to him. Glancing to Aspen, he noticed she was being attack. Norman moved in to block, hopefully, one of the attacks coming onto her.

Norman glared at Aspen as she yelled at him. Shaking his head, he turned back to the zombies, a blonde female replacing the fallen male. Focusing on his zombies, Norman tuned the rest of the world out. "We're even now. She blocked for me, I blocked for her," he thought to himself. He looked as his zombies, the one that arrived first missed its attack, but Norman noticed the blonde's hit coming straight for him. Swinging with his spike, he aimed to block the attack and use the momentum to carry through and stab the female zombie.
