Entering the kitchen from the steps leading from the first floor

I make it up the steps easily and come across what has to be a kitchen. It smells delicious, but that could be nothing more than my imagination. I decide to look around for food and water. You can never have too much during the games. I munch on one of my apples as I think about where to start. I doubt there's much in here and I can only hope if I find something, it's safe too.

I eye the cupboards in front of me as I munch and decide to risk opening the one that stands directly across from me. I grimace as I do, praying to find only nothing or something positive.

I jump a bit as a rat scurries out of the cupboard. There's a half rotten piece of bread in the cabinet. I sigh with disappointment, but I rip off the moldy part and toss it to the ground, before picking at the rest of it that seems safe. I move on to the cabinet adjacent to the first one, hoping for better results.

I curse silently and move on to the next cupboard, doubting there would be any success in my endeavors.

I see an old rusted knife and am eager to take it, since it's my weapon of choice and I haven't been able to put my hands on one. The cupboard is dark though, so I hesitate. I decide to throw my apple core in the cupboard to make sure it's safe first, before I seek my weapon.

I let out a breath of relief, glad to have sacrificed the remains of my apple for the well being of my hand. I pick up the rusted knife from the floor and grin, glad to finally have a familiar weapon with me. I go to the next cabinet and ready myself, braced for anything.

Done with the cabinets, I decided to roam around the kitchen looking for anything else that could be found helpful. If not, I would move onwards.

I cautiously pulled out the crate and blew away the cobwebs as best as I could, only using my knife to scrape away the parts that were too thick. I hoped that something useful was inside. I still needed some sort of a pack to carry my things.

I weighed the piece of wood in my hands and decided to wrap it up in my net. It could be useful for a trap. I take one last look around the room to see if there's anything worth looking into more before I leave...

I nod to myself. It's time to move on. I decide to leave the kitchen and explore other parts of the second floor.
