Genevieve's Refuge

Genevieve panted as she finally reached the Caves. As soon as she had spotted them she had known they would be a good place for her. This thought was reinforced as she discovered an underground lake. Genevieve hurried down to the water's edge and surveyed the lake. The water looked clear enough; it wasn't cloudy or filled with mud. It could be safe to drink. Problem was, Genevieve couldn't be sure. She leant down and took a small sip, just to test it. This way she would know if the water was safe or not. If it wasn't she might not get sick from the small amount she tasted.

Genevieve breathed a sigh of relief as the water tasted normal. Actually, it tasted better than the water at home. But obviously not as good as the Capitol water. Genevieve took a few more small sips of water and then stopped. She wasn't really that thirsty. Genevieve climbed a few metres away from the edge of the lake and took the knives out of her belt and the quiver off her back. She needed to check she had everything still. She obviously still had both her knives. And when she looked in the quiver she still had both her apples. What she really needed was some plastic or something so she could eat some of the apples but not all of it. She'd need sponsors for that though, and Genevieve wasn't sure she had any. Her training score had been well enough, but nothing to out of the ordinary. Genevieve sighed and put the quiver on her back again. She wasn't incredibly hungry yet, so she wouldn't eat her apples. The District 8 girl gazed around the room, wondering if she should just go to sleep or something.

The cave was quiet, with nothing to interrupt the tribute from falling asleep.

Genevieve smiled slightly as she surveyed the lake. It was weird, but she felt kind of peaceful. She was alone, nothing to bother her. She wasn't incredibly hungry or insanely thirsty. Maybe she should just fall asleep. She could wake up lively and refreshed, ready for anything. That would work. Genevieve lay down on her side, making sure her quiver was pointing upwards so the apples would fall out. She made sure one of her knives was in a good position on her belt and gripped the other one one her hand. With that, Genevieve Smith closed her eyes and fell asleep almost instantly.

((Okay, so this will probably be my last post for six days because I have to pay for wifi at the hotel I'm in. So basically she'll sleep for six days. Please try to avoid disturbing her unless loads if tributes die and you have to kill her. Balisugar out XD))

Genevieve yawned and stretched as her eyes fluttered open. She smiled drowsing and just lay on the ground for a few minutes. Everything had gone according to plan. She'd had a great sleep and now she had loads of energy. Genevieve stood up and walked down to the edge of the lake. She took a few more small sips before walking back to the top. What should she do now? She probably needed more food. Two apples weren't going to feed her for very long. Speaking of apples Genevieve pulled one out of the quiver and ate it, core and all. Since they were fruit they wouldn't keep forever anyway. And now her hunger was satisfied. But she should probably leave. Should she take the entrance she came in? There could be other tributes out there. Butthere wasn't any other exits. Genevieve sighed as she scanned the area.

The cave was large, but there was only one way out, that went to the rest of the caves and to the rest of the arena.

Well, it looked like there was one way out. If someone was on the other side she would just have to fight. But, then again, thus arena was probably pretty bug. Maybe no one would be near her. Genevieve gripped her knife tightly, made sure her last apple was still in her quiver and that her second knife was in her belt and walked out of the exit. Where would she go next?

Genevieve smiled lightly as she re-entered her former refuge. This was the first place she had come after the Cornucopia. And this time she knew not to go down the Narrow Passage. The group there could've moved on by now, but it was better not to risk it. Genevieve walked down to the water's edge and took a few sips of water, just to make sure she wouldn't be thirsty. Then she went further up the shore and lay down. She retrieved her blanket from her bag and opened it up. It looked like it would cover her, and then some. She lay down, using the backpack as a pillow and covered herself with the blanket. It was a good one too. Nice and warm. Genevieve took one I her knives out of her belt and held it just in case. Then she lay on the ground for a little bit, checking that it would be fine for her to fall asleep.

The room was once again silent as Genevieve began to doze off.

Genevieve smiled drowsing as the room looked to be quiet once again. It was perfect for her to sleep. She settled down, trying to get as comfortable as possible. She looked around the room one more time, just to double check. But there was nothing. So Genevieve closed her eyes and fell asleep instantly.

The blanket kept Genevieve warm as she slept, despite the cold floor.

Genevieve yawned and stretched as her eyes fluttered open. She looked around the space, but there was still nothing dangerous that she could see. Genevieve sat up and stretched her arms out to the side. Then she folded her blanket neatly. After than she pushed it down to the bottom of her backpack and took out her first aid kit. Once again she would just use a little of it so she could move around easily and author pain. As soon as she had done that Genevieve went down to the lake and drunk some water. She was t hungry yet, mainly because of the Capitol berries from yesterday. Genevieve stood up after her drink and looked around to see if anything else needed to be done.

The lake was calm, but echos of tributes fighting were coming in through the exit of the caves.

Genevieve nibbled on her lower lip as the sounds of fighting reached her. They sounded like they were coming from the exit of the caves. Would she be able to make it past the other tributes? Maybe. But it would be definitely safer to use another exit. But last time she was here there hadn't been one. Not even a tunnel that led to who knows where. Tunnel! Genevieve brightened as she remembered the Narrow Passage. It was still in the caves so she wouldn't have to go past the fighting tributes. And it led her to the cliffs, which were also away from the fighting. Genevieve nodded in satisfaction and walked out of the lake cavern towards the tunnel.

Little did Genevieve know the fighting was quite far off from the caves.
