Katya "Pheonix" Caraway

Katya milled around the Sponsor Building, looking for anyone who seemed willing to sponsor her tribute. It was pretty obvious she was from District 5. She had worn a fitted red t-shirt with a big, black 'D5' printed on it, hoping it would catch the eye of a sponsor. Even her jeans had a '5' sewn into the pocket. Katya bit her lip. She didn't like being in such a strange crowd of people, where all kinds of weapons could be concealed without her knowledge. The atmosphere was so.... unpredictable. "Hello?" she said, tapping someone on the shoulder. "Are you perhaps interested in sponsoring the female tribute from District Five, Rhea Glass?"

Karma strode into the Sponsor Building and looked around her. Last year she'd taken a break from sponsoring a tribute, but this year she would. Her parents had also gave her some of their money because they wanted to sponsor someone but couldn't be bothered to come down here. She watched one of the screens. It was showing the opening bloodbath, that was where a lot of technique came out. She turned around as someone tapped her on the shoulder. Hmm, Rhea Glass? Well, maybe. She showed potential, and that was good enough for Karma. "Umm, sure. What does she need?" she asked politely.

Katya grinned. "Excellent. Well, as you probably, saw, she's gotten a lot of sponsors gifts lately, and she could really use a backpack to carry it all in," she suggested, leaning in closer. "It's no lie to say she's a strong competitor. Everybody else has staked their claim with items, but yours could be the one that ties them all together. It isn't easy lugging around all those heavy, awkward supplies. Must be torture. I really think a backpack will put her over the edge, don't you?" Katya extended her hand to shake Karma's. "I'm Phoenix, by the way. But since we're getting along so well, you may call me Katya if you wish," she said charmingly, dipping her head in respect.

Karma considered the offer seriously. If she only wanted one backpack then that should be fine. Backpacks don't cost much, at all. "I'm Karma." she told Katya, shaking her hand. "I guess I'd better go put down the backpack then. Nice meeting you!" With that Karma spun on her heel and went over to the sponsor table. She'd been here a couple of times before, so she was familiar with the process. She wrote down her name, the item and the price. Then she set the pen down and walked away from the tabe so other people could get in. She looked around before shrugging and exiing the building.

Katya smiled, satisfied with the encounter. She waved goodbye to Karma and went off into a bathroom somewhere to be ashamed of her "friendliness". 'Since we're getting along so well, you may call me Katya if you wish,' she squealed in a whiny little pig voice in her brain, mocking herself and then bursting into laughter. Well, Katya-Laughter. Not normal laughter. Katya-Laughter was more like what you would see a villain do in a classic-style movie.
