Getting away

Greta grinned and then she rested her head on Jasper's shoulder. She didn't know what to say anymore which wasn't normal for Greta, she was almost always talking and normally she could never stop for the matter.

I smirked more and turned to look at the young girl."What's wrong,Great?Is the big baby tired?"I asked in a mock baby voice and laughed.

Greta brought her head back up and shifted a bit over and she looked down for a few moments, "It's not very nice to call people names." She said very quietly, her lower lip was quivering and rolled her hands into fists and she was fighting hard on trying not to be upset, she hated being upset but she couldn't help it. Greta got up, "I think I'm going to go now." She said softly and quietly as she walked over to the exit. She climbed down the ladder and eventually made it to the bottom. She closed her eyes shut tight as she began to walk away, and tears fell from eyes, but she was trying to keep the worst of it in.

I looked at her leaving for a moment,frozen in shock,before quickly following her."Hey,Greta!Greta,wait!"I shouted as I ran behind her."Hey!Wait for me!"I kept yelling until I got to her."Hey,Greta!I'm sorry for what I said,I didn't think it will hurt you.I was just joking,playing!But I never meant to hurt you!I'm sorry!Please,please,come back"I said and looked at her with pleading eyes.

Greta wouldn't face Jasper and she wiped her tears off of her face, "It's probably best if I go home." She said sniffling and then she kept her head down as soon she took a shaky breath in and more tears fell from her face. She soon faced Jasper and wiped those tears away again. Soon she walked over and she wrapped her arms around him and nuzzled her head into his shoulder.

I was surprised by the hug but said nothing.Instead,I just wrapped my arms around her and held her tightly."Greta,I'm sorry.Please,don't cry"I murmured soothingly and rubbed her back to calm her down."I never meant to hurt you,I'm sorry!"

Greta felt his arms wrap around her and soon she felt the warm comfort feeling sink in. She trusted easily and she liked people. She sniffled but after a bit she was finished with her tears, "It's okay." She said quietly. "I get that way sometimes." She mumbled and then she still hadn't let go yet.

I watched as the events unfolded. Greta was upset, and ran off with Jasper going after her. I got up from my chair to go to, but I didnt make it very far. I could tell that my presence would just be hindrance. I sat down on the couch, and watched them from there.

I smiled,even though she couldn't see me,and held her tighter."You don't need to appologize for anything,Greta.It's all my fault.Let's go back to Grinder,he'll be waiting us"I murmured but never let her go.

Greta rubbed her eyes finally and took a deep breath in and she nodded. Soon she let go and she smiled, "Yea he's probably waiting." She said and then she decided to walk back to the tree house with Jasper. "Maybe the three of us could go and do something." Greta said with a smile on her face again.

"Yeah,maybe.But we'll have to ask him first"I said and followed her back in the treehouse."Hey,Grinder!Wanna go have some fun with me and Greta?"I asked as soon as I walked in.

I looked up from the magazine I had started reading when they walked back in. "Sure, what did you have in mind?" I asked as I stood up returning the magazine to the table beside the couch.

Greta thought for a few minutes and tried to think of what they could do. "Well I bet they have some things down in the district for us to explore and do, like maybe they have festivals going on, or maybe some games!" She said excitedly. "There's lots to do in district seven we just need to find them." She said with a confident smile, "Come on we can all go on an adventure."

"Adventure?Here,in ?How are we supposed to find one?I mean,they don't sell them at the shops.The festival ended only a couple of days ago and all the games are for younger children!"I explained.

"Well, we could always go beyond the border. There are lots of things to discover out there." I suggested. I grabbed my jacket, and started to make my way out the door. "Follow me, I know the best way to get out there. I always hunt on the other side, the animals there are much bigger than anywhere inside the district." I added.

Greta looked at Grinder, going out of the district was dangerous but Jasper didn't believe Greta when she said there was stuff to do, and maybe he lacked an imagination because there was lots they could do without leaving the district, Greta wasn't happy but she didn't know what to say. If they got caught, Greta would get beat and she knew this and she didn't want to get hurt, but would she miss out on a chance to have more friends? Greta crossed her arms over her chest and was debating in her head what to do, she was fairly silent for the most part.

I stopped in the doorway when they both refuted my idea. I turned around again to face them, and leaned against the door frame "Well I know some nice places in the woods, that are still on the right side of the border. We could go check them out, I could give you guys a personal tour of the best places in the woods." I offered.

Greta thought about it and then the wor forest had registered in her brain and then a bright smile came upon her face. "I already know the forest, silly." She said and laughed, "I live in a tree house, in the forest."

"Our house is the tree house." I said smiling brightly. "It's got two levels but it's all my father and I need." Greta said nodding her head in reassurance. "I know all the birds and rabbits around there too!" She said excitedly. "I'm not crazy, so don't think that! I like to be with nature and stuff." She said.

I spoke up again, interuppting the other two. "So, are we gonna go explore the forest, or are you to going to just keep flirting with each other?" I asked chuckling a little bit. It ws funny to see the back and forth between the two.

Greta was a bit too naive to really fully have what Grinder say sink into her mind, but soon she saw how Jasper was blushing and seemed surprise. "It's okay." She said smiling to reassure him and then she turned to the two of them. "Alright, I suppose while we walk in the forest I'll find my way home." She said thinking aloud.
