Subject: Home At Last~ Mon Jul 29, 2013 12:55 am

Astrid, had been on her victor tour, where she had visited each district, and she apologized for all the losses that had happened and she spoke many different speeches in each district. She hated that she had to be shown off to the other districts for winning, but it had to be done. Eventually they made it back home to her district. She was so happy to be home.

The last day in the game was rough, but eventually, her Snuggles, and Caelus, had won the day. After the stuff with the dragons, Astrid was sent a hovercraft which she had gotten onto. Right away they tried to do the best they could with her leg, it remained damaged and unable to use the same way again. Luckily though, they had been able to seal up the slashes enough so now there was just scars on her leg there. Impossible to get an infection now. After that the rest of the ride was a blur. Until recently, she remembered her stylists, styling her one last time. Giving her something simple and something more like her district to wear and they let her hair hang loose. Astrid slung her cloak on, it was something else she got to keep from the games. Eventually Caelus was perched on her shoulder too.

After a bit she had limped up onto the platform and in front of her was practically the whole district cheering for her. She waved to everyone and eventually she focused all her weight onto the one leg as she held up Mr.Snuggles. Once most of the celebration was over and it was mostly clean up Astrid had tried going down the stairs but eventually stopped and sat on the step. She'd eventually get the hang of stairs but for the time being they were a real bitch. She knew Rafe was near by, "Bricks, can you help me?" She called out, she didn't normally like asking for help from people, especially in a state like this where she rather do it herself, but at this moment she couldn't, and it irritated her a bit, just thinking about it made her sigh in a bit of frustration.

Rafe had been along the trip with Astrid, very happily. They'd made their marriage official on the Train and hadn't looked back from that decision since. Astrid had gathered her fair share of bad memories from the games, along with a nasty one on her leg from that dragon. He was on his way to the exit of the train as he heard Astrid calling for him from there. He smirked and kept going, walking out of the train and down the steps Astrid had gotten past, "Sure thing, kiddo" he said, leaning down and lifting her up off her feet. He carried her upright with his arms around her waist down the steps and set her down at the bottom. "Good?" he asked, smiling.

Astrid waited a bit for Rafe to come and help her, it wouldn't be too much longer of a wait and sure enough it wasn't. He had come by and then she noticed the smirk on his face. That was when he called her kiddo and she rolled her eyes, but didn't complain, considering he didn't have to help her. By that point he lifted her up and then set her back down after they got past the stairs. He asked her if that was good enough, "Yea, I just have a new found hatred for stairs." She said mumbling, stairs were now going to be her worst enemy it seemed. "Still might have to lean on you until we get home though, sucks living in a mountain district." Astrid said, for the most part she had been happy since she got back from the games, but things she used to be able to do with ease were much more difficult, and she hated that."At least I'm alive, right?" She asked grinning a bit. It was better than being dead, after all.

He smiled at Astrid as he put his arm around her to help her walk. They walked to the victors village up to the door of their house, he opened it up and let Astrid go in first before closing the door and locking it. He smirked, "Alone at last, huh?" he said, chuckling. They hadn't had a true moment to themselves since Astrid's games had started. It would be nice to get back to normal. At least, back to what was normal for them.

As they walked through the district with each, it was easier to walk, with Rafe to help her, most likely she'd need a cane to walk around. She never imagined using a cane at the age of nineteen, that wasn't really ideal, but none the less it was an option. Eventually they got home to their house, and he let her in, and behind him he shut and locked the door and she grinned, "It's nice to be alone for once." She said smirking now, "Because now, with being alone." She started and came into the house a bit more hold his hand leading him along with her, "I can do things, I've wanted to do, since I got out of the games." She said a bit playfully, as the grin returned back on her face.

Rafe followed her further into the house, glad to be home at last. "Oh yeah?" he queried, grinning. He took in the site of their home, because now Astrid and him actually did live here, together. It was a strange feeling, even more so considering they were married now. His brain had spent the whole victory tour processing it all. She was facing the other way, so he quickened his step a bit to get up behind her and wrapped his arms around her. Kissing her cheek, he asked "What kind of things?"

Things were a bit different coming home to district two, but for the most part they were all good things, they just needed time getting used to. Like the fact now, Rafe and Astrid lived together by now Rafe had manged to sneak up behind her and wrap his arms around her and kiss her cheek and soon asked, what kind of things she was talking about, and she grinned, "Well, we got married and we never got to properly celebrate, also we have a bit of a tradition after one of us comes home." Astrid said calmly and patiently in response, "A party for two, is highly suggested, if you get my drift" she said still grinning.

Rafe leaned his head lightly on her shoulder, looking at her face. He knew what she was thinking, of course. He remembered when he got home from his games. In his head, he heard the voice, a smidge less creepy than usual hand out a suggestion. 'Play dumb, you'll be great at it I promise. You did all the work to get it going last time this happened after a games, it's her turn'. Rafe smirked at the idea, and the voice piped up again, 'besides, she seems to be working towards that goal on her own anyways'. Rafe decided to go with it, "I'm not sure what you mean, mind explaining?"

Astrid had waited a bit for him to respond, and for a bit she just fidgeted with Mr.Snuggles until eventually she decided she wouldn't need him for a bit and she set him down on the closest thing near them. That was when he spoke up and asked if she minded explaining and she grinned. "Me," she started and point at herself, and then pointed at him, "you, and our bed." She said looking over at him now and kissed him, "I'd lead you up there myself, but some asshole built stairs in this house." she said, "Always use the couch if it's more to your liking, Mr.Terrn." She said smirking and kissed him once more.

Rafe smiled and pretended to be surprised by the answer, at least somewhat. "Ohhhhhh I see" he says, smirking. "I guess cuddling and talking on the train just isn't enough for you huh" he said, winking teasingly. He knew she wasn't like that, but it was fun to take a jab at her while they were still talking right now. He looked at the staircase, "I think we can handle that together" he said, he grabbed hold of her thighs to pick her up and carry her, gently of course, he knew exactly where her scar was and knew it was still painful there.

The doctors had said it'd be sensitive there for the rest of her life, most likely, so he swore to himself he'd never forget the spot so he could be cautious with it. Instead, as he carried her up the stairs, he kissed her and rubbed the scar gently with his thumb to try and make it feel better, it acted like a bruise, so massaging it was apparently good for it. he carried her all the way to their bedroom and set her down on her feet, "Lead the way, Wifey" he said playfully.

Astrid smiled as he was obviously playing dumb, and messing with her. She rolled her eyes a bit "I guess it wasn't enough." She said back in response to him playfully as she grinned now.That was when he mentioned they could handle the stairs together and she smiled, she was lucky to have someone like Rafe to be there to help her out, and understand her situation. He was caring about her leg too, not meaning to put pressure on it that would hurt her.

Eventually though, as they were nearing the top of the stairs, he had rubbed the scar, at first she was going to react in a way of trying to move his hand away until she realized, he didn't mean harm, not at all, of course he didn't. Soon enough he had led her to their bedroom and set her on her feet and told her to lead the way. Astrid grinned and she shut the door. "I'll gladly lead the way."

As Rafe slowly awoke, he stretched out his arms carefully, making sure he didn't whack Astrid in the face or anything. He rolled to the side of the bed and put his feet down on the ground, being sure not to disturb Astrid, she'd been tired from all the stuff to do since the games, especially with all the walking on her leg. He got up and found a shirt and pair of shorts to put on and went downstairs quietly. As he entered the kitchen he scratched an itch on the back of his neck and smiled, opening the fridge and pulling out some eggs. He cracked them and stuff and then poured the eggs into a frying pan and set it on the stove. Breakfast in bed would be nice for her. Rafe just hoped she wouldn't try and turn it into something to expect, or else he'd have to kick her lazy butt out of bed every day until she figured it out.

When it came to sleep eventually, Astrid fell asleep right away with not a single problem. This was her first night home and the bed she shared with Rafe, even though it wasn't the comfiest bed or the softest, like the capitol, this was what the comfort of home and safety was. For the most part Astrid's dreams weren't bad in relation to just coming home from the games. Mostly she was just exhausted from all the events and the games, but eventually she saw the bloodied face of Frank rising up from the cliff and eventually she forced her eyes open and put her face into her pillow making sure not to lay completely on her stomach, she had to keep her bad leg away not putting pressure on it. Astrid groaned a bit as she rolled back onto her back and lifted the blanket up to cover her face, she didn't want to get up yet and so she attempted to go back to sleep drifting off again, not even noticing Rafe was out of bed.

Rafe finished the eggs and split it between two plates. He'd also cooked up some bacon. A perfect B&E breakfast, and no, that wasn't breaking and entering. He split the bacon between the two plates and got out forks for both of them, and then turned the burners off. He took the plates upstairs and back to their bedroom. As he walked in, he spoke up, "Get up, lazybutt" he said, carefully sitting down on the bed beside Astrid. "I got you some food" he added, offering the plate to her.

Astrid was just about asleep and to drift of again when she could hear footsteps in the bedroom and she knew Rafe was now in the room. Soon enough she felt the bed move a bit when he got on the bed. He was telling her to get up, "Five more minutes." She groaned and laid there for a a minute or two and realized he probably wasn't going to stop until she was awake anyways. She pulled the blanket back from her face and then took the plate he handed her sitting up. Sitting there rubbing her eyes for a few minutes she looked over at him, "Thank you." She said smiling referring to the breakfast he had given her. After a bit she began to eat, it was nice to eat district food for once, Capitol food she was tired of eating and people shoving her way, and during the games, well it was bread and apples, which was heaven at the time, but this was all she wanted these days. "So, I was thinking about how I could get down the stairs in the house." She said grinning.

Rafe smirked as he began to eat his eggs, "A quick toss would do it, I think" he said, grinning at Astrid. He bumped her elbow playfully, "Kidding, of course" he said. "Whats your idea?" he asked. He wondered if Astrid would ever truly be able to walk easily again. There would always be a limp, that wasn't in doubt, but that didn't mean she wouldn't be able to walk without so much difficulty. He'd feel so bad for her if she couldn't, even if he was there to help her, she didn't want to need help.

Astrid was in the middle of eating some her bacon when he mentioned a quick toss would do and she rolled her eyes, knowing he was joking, and even if she hadn't known he reassured her. After she finished chewing what she was eating, she smirked, "Well this is more of a joke too, but it could work, and it'd be much less painful than a quick toss." She informed him before working her way up to share her idea. "I was thinking, I'd sit on the top of the stairs and just rid down them on my butt, it'd be bringing out the inner five year old I suppose, it might hurt the butt after awhile though." She said mostly joking but she did it give it some serious thought. She spoke, "I mean I don't really like asking for help so it's not so bad." and then she had gone back to working her way on eating some eggs.

Rafe laughed as Astrid presented her idea. It brought out the child in her alright. "But you wouldn't want to hurt your precious touche, would you Astrid?" he said, poking her side to test her ticklishness. "It's one of your best features, can't go around breaking our stairs with it" he added, chuckling as he continued poking her. "Jeez, mature up huh?" he scolded her playfully, taking a bite out of some bacon. He was already half way done his plate.

Soon he started to laugh at her idea and she smiled, she laughed a bit too, and she continued to eat her breakfast until half her plate was gone. Then he started poking her side and Astrid tried to keep her composure. That was when he mentioned breaking their stairs with it and she laughed, "Yeup because, my butt, is big enough and heavy enough to break the stairs." She nodding and agreeing with him playfully. That was when he continued to poke her sides and she let out a giggle and then tried moving his hands away as she finished up the rest of her eggs. "One of us has to be childish!" She said matter of fact way.

Rafe finished his food and set the plate on the nightstand beside the bed, he kept poking Astrid a bit longer and when she tried to move his hands away she commented on it and he smirked. "Yea, at least one of us" he said, wrapping his arms around her waist. Rafe lifted her up and set her back down in front of him between his legs. He kept hugging her from there and reached his head forward to give her a kiss, "It's obviously not a fun job, you know"

After he stopped poking she was able to continue with her bacon, but soon his arms came around her and she smiled. Then she heard him agreeing with her and she smirked at him. As she was finishing off her bacon, he had lifted her up and placed her in front of him. She managed to set her plate down on top of his plate. He had continued to hug her the way they were and eventually he reached forwards to give her a kiss and she returned it, "Just the worst job." She said rolling her eyes and then smiled, "So any plans for today, Rafey?" She asked.

Rafe smiled at Astrid's question, "Just being with you today Astrid" he said, feeling happier about their situation than he ever had before, they were both victors, free of the games, and could just live out their lives together in peace, one beautiful day at a time. "We can do whatever you want to do" he said, and then smirking, "Even if we just slide our bums down the stairs all day". Rafe's hand had made it's way to Astrid's scar and began to massage the area, it was almost instinctual, he knew pain was there and he didn't like that, so his body automatically moved to soothe the pain.

When he replied being with her she smiled, things could finally be at ease with the two of them. She went in the games and came back out alive, and he had done so himself awhile ago. Now they were free of the capitol and their ways, only thing that would pull them back in would be if they had kids later on in their life time. "Well right now I enjoy spending my time with you." She said and she rested her arms on his and leaned her head back to rest on him. Then he mentioned the idea she had earlier and she chuckled a bit. "I think I'll save my bum the pain today, don't need two things hurting." She said. By this point his hand had found her scar, it seemed he knew exactly where it was, soon he began massage the area, and it relieved her a bit of the pain that was there, by now, she knew the pain was just something to be used to, she'd most likely be stuck with it, but luckily she had Rafe to help her and it seemed he was trying anything he could do, to reduce the pain. "I'm lucky and glad that I have you, you know." She said and smiled up at him.

Rafe smiled at her last comment as he kept massaging the scar and the area around it gently. He kissed her neck lightly before replying "I think the same things about you every time I see you, you know" he told her, he couldn't really use other words to try and say the same thing Astrid had said, so it was better to just turn it around. "So" he began, anticipating she might have something on her mind, "Anything you want to do today? Any visits to make or anything?" he asked. She might want to visit her sister or someone else.

Eventually, Rafe commented back on the last thing she had spoken about and beforehand had kissed her neck lightly, she couldn't help but smile a whole lot, by this point. "Awe, you're so sweet, Rafey." She said and she kissed his cheek. That was when their word they normally used to transition to another topic came into play and she asked about visiting people. "I don't want to visit anyone today." She said sighing, "That's all I've been doing since I got out of the games, visit this district or visit that one, say hi to these people." Astrid said rolling her eyes, right now she was a bit tired of visiting people, "Besides, if people want to see me, they know where I am, I'm the cripple here." She said mostly joking around with the last part as she grinned. "As for anything else to do today, I guess I'll have to think of something eventually."
