Round 1: Abel Rhine vs Michael Emerson Blake

Michael stood in the tournament ring. Only two people had signed up to become the best of District One, which surprised him, with the district being a Career District after all. Adjusting his shield and making sure he had a grip on his dagger, Michael looked towards his opponent. Michael recognized the face, but couldn't place a name. Michael began readying his shield as his opponent came towards him. Shifting his weight, Michael raised the shield in an attempt to block the others sword, and swung with his dagger. He wasn't quite sure where he'd hit, but hoped that his hit would strike. Michael realized that this would be a fight without words, and he was prepared to do so.

Abel just smirked as he saw his said connect after bringing his shield up to block the incoming attack. This was one thing he looked about his bigger size, it made absorbing hits against the hard surface of the shield easy and he hardly ever moved after one hit up against him. He knew he could win though, this guy was the only one standing between him and the title, so much for competition, huh? Abel slashed his sword upwards making sure to put his weight behind it as he did to give it more power because if they was one thing Abel was it was a tank and most people usually couldn't stand long against a big opponent like him for long.

Michael's shield failed him, and he felt the sting of the others sword on his arm. Michael sneered as the boy in front of him deflected Michael's dagger off his shield. He gave a sarcastic laugh, rolling his eyes. The boy must have been thinking that Michael was weak or inexperienced. Michael chuckled again. The other boy swung his sword upwards, but Michael was able to side-step it. "Come on, buddy. You have to be able to do something better than that," Michael muttered, low enough only the other could hear him. Wasting no time raising his shield, as the other had already missed, Michael threw his weight behind the dagger, aiming for the torso of the other.

Abel was never a man of many words, and this time was no different.  He didn't even give a response to the words the other guy said, even though he was frustrated at his own miss. He tried not to let it show, though if Abel kept it up he may not be able to keep it hidden for long. He lifted his shield in an attempt to block then slashed the sword I'm a wide arc towards his opponent, hoping his frustration wouldn't get greater with another miss.

Michael sighed and shook his head slightly. His opponent remained silent. Michael smoothed back his hair as the other prepared to strike. Michael's dagger had entered the others arm, when the other missed with his shield. Michael snickered, he felt his sarcasm boiling inside. "Hey buddy. It'd help you if you actually knew how to use that shield." Michael snickered again. The boy swung at him again, which missed Michael again. Michael gave a devious grin. "I'm over here," Michael muttered aloud. Shaking his head and giving a cocky grin, Michael threw his weight behind another jab with his dagger.

Michael sighed. An announcement came over, saying that Michael and his opponent were equal in damage. Twirling his dagger in his hand, he stared at the other guy. Michael tapped his shield with the dagger, making sure it was sturdy enough. Looking back to his opponent, Michael saw anger turn to determination. Michael snickered, anger could blind people. Michael wasn't sure how, or even if, his opponent was angry. Gripping his dagger and shield, Michael watched as his opponent stabbed at him with his sword. Michael was caught a bit off-guard, and attempted to raise his shield to block. In the same motion, Michael swung his dagger out in hopes to hit his opponent.

Michael chuckled as the sword of the other struck his shield with a clang. He felt the intensity of the hit vibrate his arm. Michael felt himself fall slightly short of hitting the other. Michael shifted himself to regain footing. Michael saw he only had a few seconds to react as his opponent made another sweep at him. Michael swung his shield up again hoping to block the shot. Using his shield, he made a weight shift to throw his dagger into the opponent, hoping to land a decent shot.
