It might be time for an adventure!

It was another lovely day for the tournament, and Adrianna had finally whittled it down to 5 contestants. after finding a good number of rocks roughly the size of her large fists, she had tested their strength against each other the way she knew best--by smashing them together till one of them was ground to powder.
after a morning of... well, doing whatever, she had gone back where she had left the pile of rocks and pebbles, and had gone back to smashing them against each other.

"and another one's been DESTROYED!" she threw her hands in the air dramatically, watching the dust rain back down. "only four more to go before either rock 68, rock 42, rock 15, or rock 89 joins...
the LEAGUE... of CHAMPIONSSS!"

Adrianna, or 'Smash', as she was better known, wasn't exactly the sanest person in District 11, but she wasn't as stupid as she sometimes came off as being. she was just a woman of simple pleasures, and was easily amused, especially when said amusement involved smashing things. Hence... her nickname.

when her "Rock Games" were interrupted by someone basically running right into her, she collected herself quite fast and looked at who it was, listening to what appeared to be repeated apologies.
Adrianna looked down at her rocks. naturally, they were all just as hard as ever, except for the one that had just been crushed into powder.

"it's fine, they're just rocks." she chuckled. "whatcha doin'?" she asked curiously. while Smash was not necessarily reclusive or alone in her playtime, she usually didn't draw much attention to herself unless she shouted. perhaps this girl might also have an interest for throwing rocks? there was one way to find out.

Rocks weren't exactly fragile, even with smashed against other rocks. Adrianna was confused when the other girl picked up one of the rocks (Rock #42 to be exact), but it wasn't like any harm would be done... although, that rock was so far her best one. it only took about 3 hits to smash at least 4 other rocks into dust.

"you like rocks too?" She grinned, "awesome! nice meeting you, Mars... I'm Adrianna... though most people call me Smash..."
she paused, grabbing two other rocks. "cuz I SMASH THINGS!" she hit the rocks together with considerable force, making one of them break in half.
"Percival it is then!" she beamed, usually just giving her rocks numbers. "he's actually been one of the better fighters. watch this!"
she grabbed the two halves of what used to be rock 68 and smashed them with Percival The Rock. as Adrianna predicted, Rock 68 stood no chance, and was destroyed.
"Percival is a good rock." she grinned at her new acquaintance. "so didja come to watch the final 4, or were you just passing by?"
she presented the question kindly. she didn't mind the company, and she put on an inviting expression; Adrianna was not by any means a cruel person--she just liked smashing things, particularly inanimate objects.

Smash chuckled. "yeah... getting hit with rocks hurt... but rocks themselves are tough. they can get hit lots of times before they explode."

she watched Mars take Percival and the fragment of one of the already broken rocks and smash them together. she was getting into the groove of Adrianna's game quite well, and this made the older girl excited in a way. her eyes followed the two rocks, and the one that Marcella threw out into the fields. Smash would have preferred to crush the offending rock into dust, but throwing it far, far away was a good way to send them into exile for their foul behavior.

"he got what he deserved then. he underestimated the strength of Percival!"
she got one of the other rocks and Percival crushed it into three different parts. she turned to her new acquaintance, who would soon become a friend at this rate. "at this rate, he's definitely going to win." she grinned happily. "wanna stay and watch?"

Adrianna grinned. finally someone who saw things the way she did. it was a nice touch and a good escape from the confines of reality.
"luckily the other rocks haven't decided to gang up on Percival... so they fight each other!" she grabbed the two remaining rocks and smashed them together repeatedly.
"daz, daz, daz, DAZ, DAZ!" she babbled. 'daz' had no real meaning; it was just one of her weird sound effects for her little game.
"DAZZ!" she shouted as one of the rocks broke. she grabbed one half and hit it a couple times till it broke, then did the same to the other. she then took an an announcer's voice.

"And we're down to the final two rocks. will #89 have what it takes to take down Percival? will Percival be able to resist the powerful crushing power of 89? WE. SHALL. SEE."

smashing rocks together was a much less violent and sadistic form of The Hunger Games. the Games had in fact been part of what had inspired Smash's little game, but they had inspired her in a lot of ways, none of which were very sadistic. if anything, they were like lines of defense for Adrianna's mind to prevent The Capitol from breaking her, especially should she ever be chosen. but even then, she was determined to march to her own beat.

maybe 15 (going on 16) was too old for sitting in the dirt and playing with rocks, but to Adrianna, that was only a matter of opinion. She marched to her own beat, and no one was going to tell her otherwise.
but right now, she needed to finish her rock war.

"DAZ! DAZ! DAAAAAZZZZ!" she shouted, smashing the last two rocks together. "89 and 42 are still in firece combat. they fall towards the ground in their final throes of struggle... and BOOM!" she hit them together again, and then threw some dust into the air as if to simulate a cloud, though it hardly obscured anything, not even the rocks.
"let's wait for the dust to clear... who will come out on top?"
she paused for a moment, for dramatic effect.

"PERCIVAL HAS WON THE GAMES!" She chanted, excitedly grinning towards Ella. "he did it! he won!" she held the rock up proudly, and pointed at the split stone that had been "#89".
"this is a very special rock." she smiled. "I think as the new victor of the games... he should have a good, safe home... what do you think?"
while she hadn't said it directly, she was hinting that Marcella should keep the rock. how it was interpretted and answered was still up in the air, but Smash was not afraid to explain. a simple mind wasn't necessarily a stupid mind, after all.
