Mira was growing tired as the fight continued, like her limbs were begging to relax again. Her whole body had been tense every since the arrival of the mentor mutt, and she wanted nothing more than to be done. She didn't mean 'done' as in death, but 'done' as in completed. Taking a step back as the mutt advanced at her, she tried to block it. The tribute then stabbed at him, hoping it would finish the fight.

Stacey still managed to dodge him, but she seemed too exhausted to speak anymore. She struck out yet again, but there seemed to be less conviction in it.

Rowan swung once more before chuckling a bit, falling to his knees. "You really might have a chance," he said, seeming to smile a bit before he fell over. The plants around him absorbed his body, and Mirabelle was alone with the hedges and Max.

Rowan has died. Stacey still has 15 HP. Attack patterns remain the same.

Another miss. What the hell was wrong with him? He needed to get his act together. He grit his teeth together and swung his stake to block her attack and attacked once more, hoping this would be the final attack of this little battle here. Why couldn't any of it end? Was it really so hard to hit a moving target? It didn't matter. He just put all his anger and sadness into this attack, practically praying that it would do the job.

Mira gasped as her weapon sunk into the mutt's flesh once more, drawing a fresher color of blood. She had noticed the bleeding, and guessed that it should've been enough to kill the thing. When it started to fall, she backed off, but not before another attack was struck at her, which she tried to block. Exhaling, the girl glanced down at Max, then back at the body as it sunk into the grassy ground. The tribute now had the chance to observe her surroundings, which mainly consisted of huge hedges, towering over her.

Where did Travis and Eben go?

She ran a sweaty hand through her matted hair and sighed, looking down at her feet. Mira needed a breather. She kept on her feet, just in case something else came her way before she met back up with her allies. Fulling intending to keep her allies was a thought she had began with. Who was she if she abandoned her morals just to survive? That could make her a victor, but she wouldn't be able to live with herself. "How'd I do, Max?" Mirabelle asked with a weak smile.

Stacey fell to the ground with Travis's last strike. "See you in hell," she laughed, but there were tears in her eyes as the light faded from them. Her body sank into the grass, and left behind was a small first-aide kit.

The tributes were still separated by the hedges, but they had their companions beside them. Max looked to Mirabelle and shook his tail, as if he was approving of her actions.

Travis watched as Stacey fell to the ground and said that she'd see him in hell. For a moment he wondered how soon that would be, and if the last sight of the girl he was in love with was her sinking into the ground. One more tear rolled down his cheek, but he swiped it away and said, "I really hope that ain't you Stace..." He sighed and was about to turn away when he saw a small medkit. He picked it up, smiling slightly as he looked around. He gave a thumbs up and then put the item away. He would need it later. As he looked around, he seemed to notice for the first time that he was walled in. He looked down at Yoshi and said, "Well buddy...this is a predicament. Got any ideas as to what we should do?"

Mira smiled as her dinosaur shook his tail, as if he was pleased. "I'm not dead yet, that's good, right," she muttered with a slow nod as she looked around the area. The girl was almost positive that she couldn't scale the hedges, especially with Max along. Even if he wasn't much use to her now, she didn't want to leave him behind. If she couldn't find Travis, Max would be her only company, and she wanted company.

Crossing her arms, she sighed, looking from the ground to the hedges. Leave, or find her friends? That was the question, and it seemed to be a rather difficult one. Deciding that she would take the risk of speaking loudly, she cleared her throat. "Traaaaavis!" Mirabelle called, hoping someone would reply. "I hope he heard me."

Yoshi tilted his frilled skull, wondering what was in that kit. It might be important to use it soon. Or not. Max looked curiously from Mirabelle to the hedge, and back again.

Then the hedge slammed down, the blood-red light returning. Mirabelle and Travis could now see and return to each other. But by the light, was it supposed to be peaceful?

Travis looked back to the kit once more and was about to start healing his wound, but decided against it and hoped he didn't make a mistake.. When he looked up after he was finished, he could see Mirabelle and smiled, making his way back over to her. "Hey...glad to see you made it out in one piece." he looked to the red light, wondering what it meant...

Mira followed the reptile's gaze from the hedges and back to him, wondering if it meant something. She jumped as the plants moved aside with a slam, but was overjoyed at the sight she saw. Travis; alive. Jogging her way to meet up with him, a smile was plastered onto her face. Though she had an injury, the girl couldn't have been happier. "That makes two of us," the tribute responded with a soft laugh, as she gave the boy a quick once - over. Was he hurt? She couldn't tell. "You alright?" Mirabelle asked, raising an eyebrow at him.

Looking past her ally, the girl noticed the same red light. They should get moving. Looking for Max, the girl began muttering, "We should get going, I think I'm sick of this place." While seeing if the dinosaur had followed her, the girl began looking for ways to escape the hedges and forest.

There was no escape from the hedges. As their dinos began to growl at each other, the tributes realized they were alone together, still trapped. With the red light that seemed to signify...they would have to fight.

He looked at the red light once more and then back to Mirabelle, realization dawning on his face. "You...you're a mutt aren't you? They did the same exact thing with Stacey...everyone I care about..." Travis got a crazed look in his eyes and he advanced on her. "Well guess what...I ain't falling for it again. This time, I'll have the first strike." And with that, he thrust his stake forward, a mix of pain and anger in his eyes.

Mira's eyes widened as she realized a painful truth; there was no way out. The hedges surrounded them in a creepy, almost bloodstained fog, that made the girl's heart beat quickly. She heard growling, and looked down to see Max making some of the noise. Raising an eyebrow, she turned back to Travis, to see a strange look in his eyes. Mirabelle hadn't ever seen a look like that, but it reminded her of what she would expect a rabid animal to look like, almost. "Stacey?" the girl repeated, like that name was supposed to mean something to her. She obviously meant something to him. The thought then struck her, Stacey must be someone back home, someone he cared about. He had to kill her.

"Travis, no, I'm not -" she broke off as she backed up to avoid his strike. "I'm real!" Mirabelle shrieked, taking a small stab at the boy, but not putting all of her heart into it. She couldn't kill her ally, could she? "I don't want to hurt you!" the tribute gasped out, her eyes wide with fear and confusion. Surely if they fought to the death, she couldn't win. She was a small girl, pretending to be brave from district eight. Being brave didn't mean killing the people you trusted.

It didn't register in his mind that Mirabelle wasn't trying hard to hit him. At this point, he was too angry to care as he knocked her attack away. "Yeah, I'm sure you don't you liar!" he yelled as he stabbed at the girl from eight once more.

Mira knew that whoever Travis was, he was no more. The girl had wanted to know, keep, and protect her allies, killing wasn't on that list. She didn't know if she could, but apparently he didn't have nay problem hurting her. Anger was seeping out of his voice, making her more and more uncomfortable as the situation went on. Mirabelle hadn't ever been a very powerful girl, but being unable to prevent death made her feel more useless than ever before.

She backed up to avoid the next attack, then took a stab at him, beginning to get angry. "I'm not lying!" the girl groaned. "There's got to be another way... we shouldn't have to hurt people we trust," she mumbled, knowing he wouldn't care what she said. Travis was gone, at least mentally.

Part of him wanted to believe her. Part of him wanted to stop and just shove the stake into his own gut. Yet somehow he still managed to back away from her next attack and thrust his weapon forward. "You're right, mutt...but your creators like toying with emotions. We're all just toys to them...so they decide to this to get reactons from us and their little audience...but, what must be done must be done."

Mira couldn't tell if the boy trying to kill her was conflicted or not. She hadn't ever been great at emotions, whether it was figuring them out or displaying them. The tribute couldn't afford to feel right now though, she needed to survive. After all, in Maslow's Hierarchy of needs, feelings weren't even on the list. She needed to keep breathing firstly. Taking a step back to avoid the weapon coming at her, she exhaled as a hot pain wavered over where he struck her.

She frowned as she stabbed at Travis, closing her eyes as she did so. Mirabelle couldn't stand watching him get hurt. First Rowan, now her ally? While she listened to the boy, she agreed, but didn't say so. She was just angry. "I'm real, what would it take to prove that? My cannon going off? Do you really want your ally dead?"
