Solange navigated her way among the lush green trees, occasionally looking back to see if Spencer was behind her even as she pulled him along by his hand, not wanting to make the same awful mistake again. Amongst the rain, she could hear the rolling of waves crashing onto sand and she almost didn't believe it. The games were finally taking a toll on her sanity already if this wasn't real. Her feet soon left the muddy ground, into the sand and pebbles that crunched under her weight. She came to a halt, making Spencer stop as well as she took in their surroundings. They were at a beach blanketed with pebbles and dark sand, surprisingly fitting in with the dark, depressing feel from the whole arena. But a beach was the last thing she'd expected to see here. She let her breathing stabilize as she took a few steps around the place, it was open, unlike the suffocating trees enveloping the sky. Solange gave a glance towards Spencer and nodded, pulling out her bow and nocking in the first arrow. If it was anywhere, it could be here; open enough for no surprises, but surrounded enough by trees to make a quick escape if they could turn their angle around. She scanned the outskirts of the tree line and focused on where they had came from. That nasty thing was more or less ready to pounce from there. She drew out a long breath and pulled back her arrow, silently waiting, anticipating for the worst of the worst - probably even worst than death itself. Because death would've just meant the end of their torture, the process would be the painful one. Ready, Solange's mouth moved as if she'd be speaking but no sound came out.

Spencer followed Solange as she dragged him behind her by his hand. The environment moved by them in a flash, trees and greens mixed with shades of brown and grey surrounded them and blended together as they quickly moved. Further and further away they moved from the caves through the jungle and trees and vines with each hastened step they made; not stopping for even a moments rest. There was no time for rest as the feeling of being chased crept up on them in an instant and while he couldn't necessarily see it right on their tails he knew it was lurking behind them, chasing its prey. But there was nothing more he could do but follow behind his guide. Now he knew what Luke felt like as Spencer kept checking behind him to see if he could get a glimpse of the thing. The paranoia began to kick in, and he could feel it in the air surrounding them both like a cloud that hung above them. Then an opening came, a different set of colors and a break from what he was so accustomed to seeing. Before them now stood a beach covered in pebbles and dark sand was connected to a narrow looking creek. Certainly different indeed compared to the hills and trees and caves he had seen up until this point. He bent down and took some of the sand and pebbles into his hand feeling the roughness of it against his palms "I wonder what made up these pebbles, maybe there is a bigger mountain out of here and maybe there was some shells and even fish whose skeletons broke down into this sediment we see before us...I wonder where this creek even originates from." Spencer looked down to see as far down as he could, not seeing a clear end in his vision range. He didn't really realize until right now that even though he had covered a lot of ground there was so much more to this arena than he originally thought.

But Spencer's thoughts had to be short lived as Solange's actions brought him out of it and demanded he be ready for anything to pop up at any moment; whether it be beast or tribute. She grabbed her bow and readied an arrow and looked to him asking if he was ready. "No. But I don't really think I have a choice in the matter. I don't think I've ever really been ready for anything in my life though now that I think of it. So I guess I should think of this as normal right? I mean...whats more normal than a giant...thing...chasing after you wanting to kill you. Lets just stay up here by the backshore." He pointed at about where they were standing then pointed down further towards the water. "We could move down to the foreshore if needed but with these storms the waters may rise more or even start to erode the sediment built up by bringing it back into the creek itself. That is if the storm gets really bad. Though if that's the case then...nevermind." He stopped himself before he began to ramble even more then nodded towards her then grabbed the two knives and held them firmly in his hands, taking as much of a defensive stance as he could. Luckily for them they had a wide view of their surroundings and couldn't be caught off guard too much, plus if they needed to run for any reason there was a nice line of thick trees leading to more jungle that they could hide in. If worst came to worst that is, which in the games was a pretty high possibility.

While the tributes had kept their eyes peeled along the forest line. Where they had arrived from. They had forgotten an important detail that might have clued them in to what was about to happen. The intensity of the rain that occurred when the monster came about. Obviously there was some connection between the mutt chasing them and the element of water. It should have given Spencer enough information to work with to figure out that standing next to a water source was a bad idea.

Sadly Spencer was too focused on the rest of his surroundings, and on breathing, which was obviously important. The river churned as the rapids sped up, bringing the concealed mutt through the flow and in behind the tributes. It rose up silently, staring down at them before letting loose a huge roar and bombarding Solange and Spencer with cannons of water from the river.

Solange smiled and shrugged to his rambles and questions. She never thought she'd come this close to a beach before, no way would she know how this whole system works with the rivers and the sea. All she knew is that the sea goes on for a long long way ahead. Looking at her lack of knowledge to the area, suddenly coming here was sounding more and more like a bad idea. But they were already here, She didn't expect the luxury of time to sit around and have tea as the thing strolls here. They'll have to wing it with their new environment and well, heading back into trees is always an option.

Solange paused her concentrations on the trees and blinked to Spencer, hearing an unusual response. As unusual as it was, it was still the truth. Her telling themselves to be ready was just an illusion to keep them sane, to remind them that no matter how unprepared they were, they still had to be ready. Her gaze soften as she empathized with Spencer but then got back into the focused mood. She observed the never ending sea behind them foreshore and nodded, well, more or less understanding what Spencer had just said. At least she got the important thing - Stay away from the waters, it's dangerous. She didn't want to think about getting electrocuted for being too close to the sea as the waves rolled in. She gulped at the uncomfortable thought it being struck by lightning. However, with all that was considered, they had forgotten another thing. All rivers headed to the sea. There was a river close by. Solange always lived in the lie that beaches were sandy and long with turquoise coloured sea painted on it. Guess they weren't so pretty after all. Solange could sense that presence nearby, that odour giving it away. But even as she turned, it pounced on them, snarling the most disgusting sounds, sending blankets of water onto them. After being caught off guard, Solange had to act fast, as her nocked arrow came apart from the bow, she instinctively shielded her face and tried to duck from the monstrous water coming. Wiping her face once, even though water stung her eyes, she quickly released the arrow she had nocked back in a fraction of a second, aiming for the head of the silhouette of the grotesque thing, right after the sudden burst of water had settled back down in the sheets of rain. Only after that did she let her guard down and started coughing out the water that invaded her mouth. She ran her hand through her hair, combing her wet fringe up to keep it from been the curtains to her eyes before pulling her hood back up. She turned to Spencer just to make sure he was okay and still going strong before turning her attention back to beast.

Many different thoughts and scenarios raced through Spencer's mind as he stood there waiting. All different ways they could be attacked entered in thoughts, trees flying or being mowed down to fall on top of them or waves coming up with the storm to pull them down into the creek or even being ripped apart limb by limb by the hideous, smelly thing that was chasing them. He just tried to keep his eyes open as much as possible, scanning their surroundings as much as he could making notes on anything that changed. One bit of course was the fact that the rain seemed to get more and more intense with each passing moment. But whether it was from the barrage of thoughts that hit him or maybe just the fact that he was so focused on simply breathing but in the one moment he took his eyes away from the creek and focused on the tree line was when a cannon of water shot towards him. He turned his head just as the water shot towards him, the white waters rushing towards his face and body. And instinctively without even really thinking he jumped away from one powerful stream and put himself right into another not quite as powerful stream of water from the beast. The water splashed onto him and knocking him down to the ground. Spencer didn't have time to sit there though, he pushed himself back up to his feet as swiftly as he could. He began to try and think of things to do, but thinking too much was what caught him off guard in the first place. "Feel it. Feel it. Don't think just feel. Don't think just feel." He repeated to himself a few times as he ran forward a little as he swung the knives forwards in an attempt to cut the thing. Now that he got an actual look of this thing its grotesque smell really reflected the mutt in front of him.

The immense mutt shrugged off Spencer's attack and struck out again. slamming Spencer against a tree trunk while bowling over Solange. It roared in anger and picked up Spencer, throwing him at Solange like a projectile.

Solange gathered and readied another arrow as Spencer dived in to attack but the beast was faster than her frenzied mind. The nerves got her fumbling over nocking in the arrow and her hands trembled. By the time she looked up and swung her arm over the swipe to try and block the attack, she was thrown over by the mutt. She landed on the ground as the air in her lungs got punched out, gasping for it back. She pushed herself mid way up only to get knocked back down by an incoming flying Spencer in her direction. This time, the impact made her let out what sounded like a grunt or a squeal, she didn't really know what it sounded like. She felt her body compressed and pressured to the sand and pebbles, digging into her skin while Spencer's fall was cushioned by a fraction before he rolled away from her. Solange swore under her breath and got up quicker this time, before this disgusting thing had the time to turn. She steadied herself and drew the arrow quicker launching it straight to its back, well... at least that what she thought it was. She took a huge step to the side and grabbed back the last arrow she terribly missed before turning back to Spencer getting back to the concern that was put on hold to catch the mutt off guard. Her eyes asked the very simple question and grabbed his arm to support him up, not like she was of much help by the size of her build. No longer than a few seconds their attention were brought back to the snarling of the mutt. Obviously she was not dealing very well with this. She shivered at the sight of it, much different from a human. This was the real killing machine, something created by the Capitol, not someone changed by the Capitol. Solange was horrible at this. Even so, this wasn't a time to sit down and cry unless she wanted to lose her head. She straightened her back and stared at it, hand ready to pull an arrow she had stored in her right boot for easy access as she prepared to block as well, occasionally glancing towards Spencer to see if he was fine from that awful throw.

Spencer had backed away from the beast after his initial attack and went to look at Solange to make sure she was alright. He hadn't had even enough time to even say anything to her before he was swept back into the fight as he could see from his peripheral vision a large blur coming towards him. He side stepped trying to block the swipe that came towards him but he could still feel himself being thrown into a nearby tree. With a loud thud he hit against the bark, though it wasn't enough to knock a dent into it or dislodge any pieces of bark that were firmly places on the stump. He pushed against the stump and grabbed his head, rubbing it for a second where he had hit it. Spencer didn't really get a moments rest before he felt his entire body being swept up again and being flung through the air as if it was a rag doll right into Solange. He moved as quickly off of her as he could after they both hit the ground, rolling away until he laid on his stomach a few feet from her grumbling voice. Spencer just felt like lying there face down in the mud. Stuff like this was the reason Spencer never played outside much as a child or played sports of any kind, the idea of injury was bad enough let alone actually getting injured. Now he was here and being injured every minute. Definitely not what he would have chosen for himself.

Spencer pushed himself up to his knees and let the rain fall down on him. Not even a few seconds had passed before he felt hands grab onto his arm and begin to try and lift him up. He took up some of the burden and brought himself back up to a standing position. "I'm fine. Thanks." He quickly spoke towards her in response to her concerned look. Spencer picked up the knives that he had dropped from the impact and readied to attack again. He jumped forwards and swept the blades forwards towards the beast again, then jumped back away from it placing himself next to Solange once more. He took up a clumsy defensive stance and waited for the next move.

The creature roared at their attacks landing. It backed up and the winds picked up, assaulting the tributes with hard rain pellets.

Solange winced at the thunderous roar before blocking out the attack of the rain and mutt, pulling her arm up in defense one again as she tugged her hood tighter down her face. When it seemed to stop, she turned the arrow that was gripped in her hand set it in her bow. Only a little while in this fight and Solange was gasping for breath as muscles starting whining in pain. She realised that the mutt was backing off and she took a forceful stride forward, with an arrow head glaring it at before it launched from it's base and into the body of the beast. It gave her a little hope, for even getting out of this fight alive, as tired as she felt and as terrifying as the mutt looked. Solange took a few steps back to her original position and then side stepping, moving the angle of their fight in such a way that the forest line was behing them and the sea, in front of them. Solange glanced to Spencer again and gave him an encouraging nod. This sent the crude message to her, that dashed her pitiful denial and made her step into reality of the fact that she could actually die anytime soon. There was no backing down from it, it was either dead or alive and she would rather have the later of the choices. Being alive for that extra few hours suddenly seemed to mean the world to her, being able to do so much more things before it was too late.

The wind harshly pushed against Spencer as the beast jumped back, sending pellets of rain coming towards both him and Solange. He lifted his arm up to block some of the hard drops from hitting his face and turned his body slightly so that it took most of the force and left his vulnerable head in some sort of cover. He caught a glance of Solange who tried to reassure him with a smile, but all he could do was weakly give her one back. It wasn't like he was getting to weak, but after how long he had been going in the games at this point it was starting to drain on him a bit. But he would keep moving, he had to. When the rain weakened and seemed to in a way change its course he stepped forwards with a knife in each hand and swept forwards with his arms. He then bounced backwards until he stood next to Solange once more, his right foot planted firmly on the beach as he stood in a defensive position.

Solange's feet lost the grip to the ground as she stumbled a few steps backwards, catching herself before she fell as her arms quickly swung back in defense from the upcoming wave of water racing towards them. She took a step closer towards Spencer, feeling the need for some mutual support. She bit her lip as she wanted to let out that frustrated scream that invaded her mind like a boombox stuffed in there, blasting at it's max. She coughed out the semi salty water that went up her mouth while the rest that got into her nose caused a burning sensation by the top of her trachea. Now she knew why she wouldn't have belonged in District 4. Water was like another enemy getting to them and she didn't like it very much. Even her eyes started to sting from the water and it made everything more and more irritating. She blinked hard a couple of times, forcing her eyes open as she dragged out yet another arrow. She gritted her teeth, straining her vision towards the beast. It was huge so it shouldn't be too big of a problem to hit no? Then the wind and rain reminded them of their presence, causing Solange to reangle and launch. She let her guard down, rubbing her eyes, getting the tears to push the salt water out of her eyes. Solange wanted this to end, and end in a nicer note where they'd be alive at least. Maybe if she don't think about the pain and fatigue, it'll go away. Such a childish thought, yet that's all she could've hoped for at the moment.

Spencer felt a look of surprise come over his face as he felt himself get moved backwards. He caught himself then quickly repeated his previous actions once more and moved his face away from the water that was moving towards them now and felt the majority of the wave hit against his back. This still didn't stop water from hitting his face, but he held his breath before the water came down on them and closed his eyes tightly, which at least stopped anything unpleasant from getting into his eyes or mouth. Now totally soaked, Spencer opened his eyes and breathed in deeply making sure to catch in his sights again the large, grotesque beast that stood before them. Spencer quickly pushed his wet hair away from his face giving it a slicked back look which all but stuck to his scalp like he had hair gel in it, complete with a few stray strands could be seen poking up from the top of his head. He did the only thing he really could do, he flung himself and his arm haphazardly forwards towards the thing and hoped to hit it, then as quickly as he had jumped forwards he jumped backwards trying to keep his distance. He made sure to occasionally look back towards the tree line for any changes. He couldn't ever let himself forget that something may be lurking in the tree line, he wasn't dumb enough to forget that there were still 3 others out there. He looked towards Solange as he spoke quickly and loudly to her, "You ok? Make sure you keep an eye out, there are still others out there as well who may stumble upon us." He nodded to her and kept himself in a defensive but open position. He was easily able to see forwards towards the thing and had a nice enough view of the forest line just in case something happened.

The mutt roared, angry that both of its enemies were still moving. It swatted at their insignificant bodies again.

Solange felt her eyes adjusting back to normal as the stings started going away. She nodded her head violently in reply to Spencer, making slighted bigger movements so that they were visible through the rain. She turned her head back, copying Spencer's actions to take a glance by the trees too. The roar from in front turned her attention back as she quickly dodged it under the beastly arm that flailed at them. She took the opportunity in the dazed chaos, taking a leap of faith and sprinted forward. She ducked under incoming arms and swiftly yanked out the three arrows that stuck out from the body of the gruesome mutt. She darted her way back to her original position beside Spencer, pulling another arrow, from one of the three bloodied ones. Her senses were coming back to her, after hearing someone speak, it kinda brought her back to the harsh reality. Her heart raced as the adrenaline coursed through her veins. After the bow string made yet another monotonous thwak sound she did a quick double take by the forest. Now she was just getting paranoid, after the reminder that they weren't alone and that they were others as well. Though she wished it wasn't the case. Solange didn't think she could face anyone else, and especially knowing whether her fellow district partner was still hanging around or not.

A few moments passed but nothing had come or even remotely interesting had happened along the line of thick forest. Was he just being paranoid? Was he over thinking again? Not enough time to ponder it now though as the fight continued to rage on. Spencer did the one thing he could think of as the large arm of the monster came barreling towards him, he jumped away from the object and leaned his body back some. It was almost amazing that he somehow was able to stay on his feet though after that maneuver, but he did it with the uncoordinated waving of his arms. He could only imagine that he was a sight to see, easily one of the most nonathletic people in these games had somehow made it this far and yet he was still hardly able to keep himself on both feet. Spencer then quickly jumped forwards again and slashed at the thing with his knife. Once that was done he stood next to Solange once again. "Don't worry. We can do this. Honestly the odds of us winning now are actually pretty high, I mean unless we take into account all of the other things that could be sent our way at any moment...and I'm trying to make you feel better and I'm making things worse. Nevermind, I'm going to shut up now." He placed his hand on her shoulder and nodded at her just trying his best to keep up both their spirits.

I crouched behind a tree, far enough away that they couldn't see me without knowing I was there. I motioned to Luke for him to follow me. I noticed that the mutt was weak. Now was the time to strike. Pausing for a moment, I looked at Luke and nodded. It was his old ally. I hoped that this wouldn't affect him. We'd been through a lot, but I wasn't from his district. "What do you want to do?" I mouthed. His turn to make the call.

I follow behind Amy quietly until I can see the two tributes more clearly. I curse under my breath as I realize Solange is one of them. I can't attack her, especially since she gave me her sword. She's looking a lot weaker than the other tribute, so maybe we can take him out and the mutt will do the rest. I look at Amy, who seems to be letting me make the call for once. "The boy first," I whisper.

The mutt sensed fresh victims approaching and quickly turned, swiping at the two new arrivals. It quickly turned back to its original prey and bashed them backwards with its powerful body once more.

Solange took the energy to tilt her head up to Spencer as he tried to help push her on. And then started rambling a little which made her throw a grin in return. As untimely as it is, it comforted her, even though he claimed to have made it worse. She gave a stronger nod this time, while he gave her a pat on the shoulder. Solange was suddenly reminded for the Mutt's presence by its snarling. However when she looked up, it wasn't to them, it was towards the trees. At first it charged towards the treelines, but then it started reversing, attacking Spencer and her with what she assumed was his butt. Butt attack, how charming. She prepped an arrow in a heartbeat and with all the strength she could muster up, pulling the bow string to its maximum. It looked weaker yet frenzied at the same time. One more hit, one more arrow, one more pull, she could do it. The sound of her bow stole a second from the rain as it echoed around before the rain engulfed it back. With that done, her attention moved towards the new comers that the mutt had detected. In a way, it did them some good. Their presence could be felt once detected, by the trees, but who, was another mystery she didn't want to know. If she could blindfold herself like last time and fight, she'd gladly do it if it meant not seeing their faces or their expressions.

I jumped back, away from the mutt, not wanting to reveal my poisition to the others, but staying alive was the better option. With that, I sprinted to the male tribute. It was Spencer. We'd been through quite a bit together, but not enough to spare him. With a pang of guilt in my heart, I swung my arm and sliced at him with a backhanded motion, giving it a little extra power. I blinked, clearing my thoughts and stepped to a defensive poisition. I sighed. Here we go again.

I jumped back from the mutt and away from Amy as the creature attacked. Seeing Amy charge off into the battle, I followed her, wielding my sword and holding the club for defense. I didn't engage Spencer directly, but ran by him, taking a slash at him before moving out of range. Then I turned around and prepared to go back again.

The mutt roared once more, but this time it was instead at something towards the trees. A roar that had passed over them in a sense and was meant for someone or something else. Someone else is here And that was confirmed by the figures he could see just enough in the trees and with a swing of the arm from the beast towards the new arrivals. He knew who it was, the newest face in the sky meant there were only 4 left and him and Solange were two of them. That could only mean two people. It didn't take a genius to figure that one out after all. Now with the thing's back towards him it started to reverse until it was charging them with its rear end...or at least what Spencer assumed was his rear end. He had wondered if it was even smart to kill the thing. After all, if it was going to attack everyone in the end it might just take out everyone. But before he would say anything to his partner the thing took an arrow to the knee and fell as Solange had downed the beast. "Nice shot," he then motioned towards the trees before proceeding "we have company. It's your career friends." Spencer turned back towards the tree when he saw someone rushing towards him with an attack. He stepped away quickly from the arm that came near him and with his own quick swipe towards his attacker. Spencer then jumped back away from his attacker which put a nice distance between them thanks to his long legs and he was able to get a good look at who it was. It was Amy from District 1, his deductions were correct. Then Luke ran towards him but his own swipe didn't connect. They were now both out and exposed coming for him. That was how it was with careers. Get rid of the others then attack amongst themselves until a victor is crowned. "They've come for me Solange." He looked towards her then back up again. Spencer held up his arms and slowly backed up into the creek until the chilly water was hitting his knees. If this was a different arena he might have been shocked by the cold, but being wet for almost two months meant you were no longer noticed being cold or that your clothes were wet and uncomfortable to be in.

The Mutt let out one last swath of attacks at the tributes in a mad frenzy, before dissipating into water vapor.
