Amaya walked up to the Melee station, as people left for lunch. The gym became more quiet and it felt more dreadful than before. She didn't like the silence but since she came here, she seem to have forgotten how to interact. Amaya glances to the groups of tributes, already forming alliances to band together and survive. Her? Maybe she could band together with the trainers, have tea or something. Amaya shook her head with a small smile, in disappointment as she stood in front of a dummy and started to throw punches. The first punch she threw stung her knuckles and she bent down, cradling her right fist as she waited for the pain to go away. Her face grimaced, cursing under her breath as a trainer came up to her, "The arm throwing the punch should be bent, not straight. When you punch, shift your weight to your back foot. Twisting your hips generates power and makes your punch more devastating." Amaya stood up immediately when she heard him and tried to process what he just said. "Always keep your knees bent and thumbs out. Angles are important if you're throwing that hook punch or an uppercut," he explained and readjusted her stance and arms as he continued, "try hitting at a 45 degrees angle and aim for the jaw, learn to keep it back in quickly for defense." Amaya nodded and gritted her teeth as she attempted to throw another.

"Never break your wrists, keep them straight. Just keep trying, get your muscles remembering the feeling and you'll get it." He shrugged and backed away as Amaya thanks him and continued to practice. See? At least someone would talk to her. She wasn't all that great at melee stuff and it's usually her getting the pain instead for giving it. Amaya stopped for a moment to steal a glance around the room looking for the comfort of any familiar faces. But who was she kidding, no one was familiar around here. She sighed and punched the dummy one last time with full force. More or less getting it, she went on with the weapons section. It made her uncomfortable, seeing all the huge ass weapons, as if staring at them would kill you. She cautiously picked up a sword, and once she pulled it out of the rack, the point clanked onto the ground heavily. 'How the hell did people carry these things?" Amaya mumbled to herself as she used more force to lift it off the ground.
