Marnie Kaleen's Interview

I fiddled with the long pearls hanging on my neck. It was taking longer than I thought for my turn to come. There were 20 tributes going before me, so that was 60 minutes, or an hour that had passed before my time had came. The boy tribute from District 10, Nathan I think, had just left the stage and then it was all me. I lifted the skirt of my dress and walked on stage, waving with one hand, holding the dress with the other. I smiled and walked like my stylist had told me to in the heels. I started blowing kisses to the audience. I smiled at Caesar before sitting down in the chair. I sat straight and tall, twirling my finger around the loose piece of hair that was not included in the tight bun. My stylist actually had to put extensions in my hair so that it would all fit in the bun the right way.

"Hello Caesar!" I said enthusiastically. "I'm so excited to finally meet you," I said. I looked out at the audience, smiling, and I stopped twirling my hair.

This would be a breeze. I placed my hands on my lap and let out a little laugh. "It sure does take a long time to get here Caesar, but it's worth the wait!" I said, running over things in my head. Don't worry, Caesar always helps tributes through their interviews. And besides, there's not much to say except answering his questions.

My eyes shift up, as I'm thinking for a moment. I really thought I'd gather some things further away from the Cornucopia and them run away from the Careers. I looked up at Caesar. "Well I'm good enough to be considered by the Careers, so I hope they take me into their alliance! If not, well, I'll figure out a way," I said, smiling.

His questions seemed to be all about the arena. My stomach churned, feeling uncomfortable. Well, I did have an idea, but I wasn't going to give it away fro all the other tributes to hear, now was I? "Of course I do Caesar, but I don't want anyone stealing my tactics!" I said, smiling.

I let out a little giggle, something that surprised me deeply, as I had never giggled before. Maybe I was just giddy? Or was this all apart of the act. I didn't really know. I relaxed my cheeks, as I was tired of smiling, and preceded to answer Caesar's question. "Thank you! And I'm feeling great. I mean, the Capitol is perfect and this is just the icing on the cake!" I said cheerfully. As I progressed, this felt like less of an act and more as if I were a actually enjoying this. And to be honest, I was.

I decided that it was time to get in some sponsors. This would surely sucker them up. "Oh of course Caesar, everyone loves cake!" My voice seemed higher than normal. "It's rich and sweet.... just like all of you!" I said, holding a hand out to the audience.

Ah, the food. I've actually been waiting to talk to someone about the food. "I really like the lamb stew and the different breads. Now, don't get me wrong, the Capitol is full of wonderful delicacies, but my favorite food here is the garlic bread. It's much saltier than the kind at home, and it's shaped in many different ways and designs." Talking about food started to make me hungry.

I laughed along with them. I was actually starting to enjoy this. I wasn't tense anymore, and I was making everything fit in in the right place. "Yeah. When I was hungry on the train, it was the first thing that I saw, and I fell in love with it when I took the first bite. There's other things, but by far, it's my favorite."

Yeah, I thought. Sometimes the first is always the best. Who was I thinking of? Fritz. Oh god. Forget it, it's just something you're trying to implant in your head. "I'm a little nervous, but overall, I'm just excited. I'm anxious at times, especially about the bloodbath, but I'll make it through."He seemed to keep asking questions about the arena. Why?

I smiled at him, beginning to fiddle with my strand of hair again. "Oh I know I will, Caesar. I'll live long in this alliance," I said, smiling a little slyly.

I smiled and placed a hand over my other. "What other alliance, Caesar? The Careers," I said slowly.

"Yep, it'll surely get me the weapons I need." I said, truthfully. I mean, I wasn't going to betray the Careers or anything, but I absolutely needed the weapons to survive. "Barely anyone without a weapon will survive," I said.
