"One of us will have to get through this.." I said "But we can't think about that till we're there.." I put my head on the pillow my face inches for his and gazed longingly into his eyes, "I wonder how Will is..?" I asked outloud.

You can do a quick Will post here for her reactions to everything so far?

-Hey, that's a good idea, when the Hunger Games start are you going to make topics in the Districts where the TVs are?

Will had been watching, she hadn't seen much of her brother and best friend other than a short clip of them training. She missed them desperately, and was avoiding the biggest question- who did she want to come home?

"Yeah..." Milo agreed, trailing off. "Don't you ever want to see her again, Brook?"

A tear slid down my cheek, "You deserve her more than me." I whispered "But yes I'd love to see her.." I choked off a sob and wrapped my arms around Milo seeking the warmth of comfort I'd craved since I'd arrived at the capitol.

"I'm not going to throw my life away for nothing." I said "I'm going to make sure that one of us gets to the last two. Then whoever is left must win. Or if it's both of us.." I didn't finish the sentence he knew what I would say and it would be the truth. I absent mindedly ran our intertwined fingers through my hair.. "I want to escape from this nightmare.."

I shut my eyes tight the pain of it all was becoming too much but suddenly I heard a voice in the hall and shot straight up, "Did you hear that?" I asked

Milo froze. "Yeah," he said. "Who do you think it is?"

"It's Jokk from District 5!" I heard the voice yell "Well that answers that.." I said wiping my eyes on my arm "C'mon." I scrambled out of bed and out into the hall.

Milo waited for Brook in her room, he thought he heard her crying and was debating going back out.

~Ten or so minutes later

I returned to my room feeling much better and saw Milo, "Hey" I said smiling "I didn't know you could be so dominant" I kissed his cheek "I kinda like that," I playfully winked and giggled at my own playfullness

Milo laughed and climbed onto the bed. "Was Tammi okay?" he asked.

I nodded "She helped, and I think she's okay" I crawled up the bed so I was laying on top of him. "US." and with that I kissed him deeply on the lips, wanting to feel that stirring in my chest again, the warmth Milo provided

Milo kissed her back and forgot everything, the Games, his sister, his family, his life, and just focused on Brook.

"Brook," Milo whispered between kisses, "I can't go back to 6 without you. My entire life has been pointless. You're the best thing that has ever happened to me..." he couldn't imagine life without her.

There it was again, we had arrived at the point at which neither of us would give. "I may be the best but there is things that are worth more than me back home, I'm not going to be around to see those Milo, just promise me when you go back, don't forget about me.." I rolled next to him allowing him to be on top "Please listen to me this time,"

"Never..." Milo murmured, "Just forget about it now...we'll think about it later," once again, neither of them would back down. Think about it later... In the darkness, Milo could almost imagine that they could escape this mess they'd been forced into.

I kissed him again pulling him on top of me enjoying the temporary security he granted me.

TIME FOR THE WRENCH

Just then a crew of peacekeepers came in. They picked up Brook cuffed her easily and brought her out of the room. Milo was kept inside the door guarded by one with a gun, a few minutes later a scream rang out. It was Brook. "MILO!" she screamed "HELP!!" another louder scream of pain. Than it was deathly silent. A single gunshot followed by a scream of agony.. and again it was quiet. What were they doing to her? Why?

Tammie:
I entered Brooks room, Milo needed to know. "They found out." Tammie spoke to him "She claimed that you had nothing to do with it, but they found the bruise on her back. Now they're torturing her. I don't know for-" another scream pleading for release "how long but, she saved your life."

Milo ran at the door but the guard lunged at him. He was so furious that he easily knocked him out with one smack to his jawbone. Then Milo wrenched open the door. They had her in the hallway and Milo ran to her crumpled figure, protecting her with his own body. "Brook! Brook!" he sobbed.

I think it was MY training that kept Milo alive, Brook was crumpled in the hallway her arm a bloody mess along with multiple whip looking cuts around her body. Anyways the guard pulled his gun at Milo and I just had time to pull him away and immobilize him. "Shh Milo. If you want to keep her alive stay back." I winced as another lash brought a teary whimper sound from the girl.

I remember Milo standing over me I also remember about two seconds later the hot sting of the whip on my cheek. "H-help" I pleaded weakly.

"Let me go," Milo shouted, pulling away and running back to protect Brook. He almost made it, too. A gun barrel smashed into the side of his face, making a sickening crack. Instantly, blood was in everywhere in his eyes, mouth, nose. But he had to protect Brook...he continued to crawl across the carpet towards her.

My eyes found Milo and I just had time to mouth 'I love you' before the bullet pierced my neck. And I woke up with a start Milo next to me still in bed "It was a dream.. All of it wasn't real" but I started crying anyways
