Answering Ken's question I choke out, "Firefly!" Before going into another fit of pain. It wasn't too great, but I needed to be healed. Soon I would just put it on myself if no one helped. I could do that, I think.

My mind was running through many different scenarios, all of the relating to the alliance. I liked it, and we could easily keep each other safe. We had many supplies, and we could become strong friends, if Nik would allow it.

"I feel responsible," I sigh, meaning responsible for Firefly's death. "I welcomed her into our alliance and then I let her go off to hunt. It doesn't seem right. I should have been watching out for her. I . . . I can't believe she's gone. I'm not to blame, right?" I ask, still sitting on the ground, holding my bandages. I needed a little reassurance.

"Not to blame."he grunted. He hated how everyone could be affected by the games. "No one killed her. No one else but the Capitol."he said, mumbling the last sentence. He got his own bandages out to atleast repair his leg a bit, but didn't use it, realizing it will be their need later on. He grabbed his bag and stuffed his things inside. "Look here Jokk, no one deserves to die like Firefly did. But you did know that I was out hunting, and yet you let her go? You implementing that you don't trust me?"he asked.

Of coarse, he couldn't support all of their needs, but atleast they needed to trust him. It's a big thing whenever alliances are made. He looked out, and wondered where Nik was. He was, in fact, the one that asked Ken into the alliance. And if he was willing to break it, was he bringing him along. Sure, he could take care of himself, but he was looking out for the others. Not himself. Like the big brother he is.

"It's not your fault. She didn't go near you. I never even said anything about not trusting you. If I didn't trust you, I wouldn't be here!" My voice rose as I spoke, my temper rising.

Even though I was angry, I managed to calm down. We couldn't be fighting. It would lead to us killing each other. "I'm going to use my own bandages," I say in an attempt to change the subject. "I'll only need to use one."

I pull out a bandage of my own, one that is rather large, and wrap it around my heel. It already felt better, and I sighed. "Much . . . Better. I think. Let's see how I feel in a minute." I shakily stand up and grab onto the side of the cave. I was actually pretty good at healing, an it was due to the time I spent working on it in practice.

I had a major flash back then, probably due to the subsiding pain in my ankle. It was back when I allowed Hade to hunt with me, and the reason why I made her stop.

I ran trough the forest, Hade just in front of me. She was fast, but I was faster. The only reason she was ahead of me was because it made her feel good about herself. Her feet were pounding against the dirt flor, an bedew I knew it, she fell.

"Ah! Jokk!" Hade's shouts were like guns shooting my ears. I didn't know what to do, so I rushed to her side. Her ankle was torn badly, and the nine was sticking out. A trap, made for something as large as a fox, was attached to the other foot, which was bleeding all over the dry leaves surrounding us.

"I'll help Hade. Hang on a moment. I'll help." While my voice had been calm, I was freaking out. I tore off my shirt, then ripped it in two. For her broken ankle I wrapped the half shirt around loosely, then gently pushed her bone into place. For her trapped foot I swiftly tricked the trap into opening and pulled it off, then disabled it and tossed it I to the bushes. With the leftover piece of shirt I clogged the bleeding.

"How's that?" I tiredly asked Hade. I was out of breath, and my hands were covered in blood.

"Amazing," Hade replied, flashing a big smile my way. I had done it, Hade was fine.

'Healing Dice' :

I sigh, glad the pain had finally stopped. After watching my flashback, I understand that the others must have families too. They had people to care for, just like me. I couldn't believe I had overlooked that.

"What family do you guys have at home?" I ask the others. "I have too little sisters, my twin sister Hade and my littlest sister Mari. My mom and dad live with us too, but they don't help us at all. They're thrown out of wack because of my deceased older brother Derek." I look down, the thought of Derek making my newly refreshed self feel grief.

What if the others had dead siblings? I could relate to them. It was a horrible thing. But maybe it would just draw us together.

Firelfly was dead? Fern felt horrible. Fern had told her that she might not be able to trust them, and after she went off, she died. It's not your fault, she told herself.

Sighing, she took a sip of the clean and clear water. She now knew what to do. She felt absolutely terrible for doing it, but she knew it was the better choice. She would let Nik go off alone, and possibly die.

After gulping down some water she said, "I've decided..." she paused, erasing worry from her voice, "I want to stay! I don't want to have a fate like Firefly's. And I trust you guys, as of now," Fern smiled, a bit nervously.

After taking a bite of the scrumptious bird meat, she held her bow. Fern had 20 arrows left, and none of them had been used to kill. It was a good thing she had gotten those. Fern would be a pretty easy to kill target without them...

I stare at Fern in amazement. "You're really staying? That's great! I hope Nik stays too. He needs this food and water."

I look at Fern's bow, and smile. "I got good enough with arrows to hit a large, still rock. It's good that you can use it." I slighty, nervously laugh. I was busy waiting for Nik to prove what he was made of. If he came back, he cared. If he stayed away, he was strong. Either was good, for him.

"That's nice Fern."he mumbled as he eyed Jokk. What was he playing? But he needed to trust the distric 10 tribute if he wanted help. Sighing, he dropped back down to the floor. Well, if he was to protect them, he'll need all the healing he could get. He took out his bandages and started to work. "I hope Nik will respect your choice though. He seems to be protective of you. Even from us."he grunted as he worked.

Fern smiled, nervously, "I feel bad, but... this is the the best way to live in the Arena," She continued to smile genuinely, taking a bite of the delectable cooked bird. Of course, it wasn't fancy and well prepared like the Capitol's meats, but it was still great.

Fern fiddled around with the bow, a bit worriedly now. "Almost none have us have been in any sorts of trouble yet... " She was curious. Who were the other alliances? Why haven't they been attacked yet? Were they the largest alliance? She shook her head, "I just... I just hope we won't be attacked anytime soon."

He nodded in agreement. It was getting on his nerves on how peaceful their stay in the arena is. It's already been a few days and they haven't encountered anything lifethreatening yet. Except for firefly that is. "Eerie how they seem to be waiting for something eh? Like their planning on striking us as no blood is flowing on the land."he said to Fern. He gave her a reassuring nod and smiled, for his and her's sake. 'I do hope they'll let us live first.' he thought silently.

A figure flew out of the depths of the cave; too close to the alliance for comfort. Then more followed. At first Fern assumed they were birds, but once they were closer, she could see what they were. Bats.

There was a huge swarm of at least 50 of them. They screeched closer and closer, until Fern realized they were about to attack, "Bats!" she yelled. Scrambling to her feet, she clutched her arrow. They were coming in the alliance's direction; closer... and closer... Please don't attack us, she silently pleaded to the bats.

He hadn't gotten the time to react, seeing he was the farthest one from the entrance of the caves. He stood up, gripping one knife and slinging his bag up his shoulder.
"Back up into the entrance! Go on!"he said, and turning his heel to dash to the safety of the outside place. Grabbing Fern by the hand, he threw a knife to an attacking bat. "Outside first, we'll have a better aim than in here."he yelled over the see of shadowy figures. 'Stupid Mutts.' he thought as they jumped out of the cave.

OOC: Yup! For organizational purposes, there are 50 bats and they each have 75 HP. Minus 10 if they attack.

Fern wanted to fight; to show them that she could, and she would. She ran a small distance outside, anyway, but got a bow ready to shoot the muttation bats. She fired. Hoping she hit her target, she made another attempt. As the arrow flew into the squealing mob, one of the dark bird-like mammals broke off. it lunged for her. Trying to act quickly, she made an attempt to stab it with one of her bows.

They bat struggled to fly, but continued to attack her. Fern fired another attack at the dark creature, hopefully killing it. Fern realized that the bats were getting closer to the group. To survive, she kept firing; 5 arrows total into the mob. She prayed that they inflicted some damage to the squealing creatures.

Fern smiled. Multiple bats had crumpled to the ground, and the one that attacked her didn't live long enough to inflict more damage. Bats came closer, and 2 more attacked Fern. They clung to her hair and leg, and she quickly jabbed at them. She was worried about her allies, but focused on staying safe.

Ken took out all of his Daggers, stabbing all bats that were near. He tried to protect everyone, but in the chaos of the flying black bodies, he was lost. He then was lunged at by a bigger bat. Seeing his attempt to save everyone was futile, he tried to save himself. grabbing his 2nd knife, he gripped the handle so tight, his knuckles turned white. He began to try stabbing it, with all the force necessary. Ducking it as it swooped down, and aiming for it's heart when it was flying within his reach.
